Fun playoffs so far.
Maybe we can get the extra first rounders from both Columbus and SAN Jose.

honestly... i dont believe the sens will make any big moves and they will be in the race for the 1st pick again... probaply they will overpay again ánd fail... but maybe a team like they jets within cap horror this offseason, are willing to give away somebody for cheap... at least i hope so

but still i hope, they can sign erik karlson and duchene.

what they have to do ist trading or buy out boetker and ryan.
trading craig anderson is for sure the best option because he is not an nhl starter, he played a few good campaigns but he sucks... LET CECI LEAVE FOR THE VERY FIRST OFFER, make macarthur and gaborik sign retirement papers and restart with a bunch of players like chabot, becouse chabot is most like the shining start on deep black ottawa sky...

but in the end: the sens basicly screwed up all their trades within the last 5 years... like bishop to tampa, hofmann out, duchene and dzingel for prospects who will never make it, spezza to dallas or my all time favorite... alex burrows,,,

and;

winning doesent mater for new liver eugene, because he just cares about the money and wont spent anything for the franchise... instead of resigning karlsson duchene and stone for the price they asked for, and keeping the franchise value up, melnyk screwed his own company big time.

im not wondering why ottawa fans wont spent a fortune to see a bottom feeder team... NOBODY SHOULD VISIT THE GAMES ANYMORE UNTILL EUGENE SOLD THE TEAM!!!!

gibbons deserves a new contract if no elite players will be signed in UFA!

sure but picks in the 25-31 range mostly wont help a lot,
what they need are a few lucky shots on picks that develop like tarasenko, kucherov, datsyuk or rinne

Next year there are 2 potential franchise players at the top of the draft. Ottawa needs one of them. Byfield will be the guy we are going to be discussing after Christmas.

A winning team needs a lot more than skill to be a championship contender. You need character, heart and some sand paper.

This morning Sens fans wake up knowing they can build a future.

Leaf fans wake up this morning wondering about character, heart and sand paper.

Picks in the first round are better than not having them at all.

so you say that picks from 25-31 don't help, and then in the next sentence say that we need guys like the ones you listed, who were all picked in that range or later.

doesn't really make sense.

that's like saying "I'm going to turn down the $80,000 per year job on the off chance that I win the lottery"

I was thinking last night. Given the terrible year and clear lack of chemistry with the Flames. I bet we could get James Neal for cheap. if he can get back up to his average in scoring his contract is a bargain and he could help lead our young guys and give us some scoring.

I personally don't like Neal, but there's no denying he'd be one of Ottawa's best forwards. Still, he has an 8 team NTC. So, despite us having an obvious spot for him in our Top 6, that's probably not happening.

I don't think it is fair to use the choke word in regard to the Leafs playoff performance.

Next year and the year after are write offs in my opinion. We have some picks this year. That should give some additional prospects to work with. The goal will then be to get a lottery pick next year to land an elite prospect (preferably forward) to build around. The year after that is a growing pains year with the said prospect plus other young building blocks.

The time between now and then should be a time to rid of players that no longer fit the organization (Smith, Pat, Andy, Ceci, etc). You can't do that overnight. There should also be an emphasis on getting a coach committed (Dorion committed as well) to being here for the long term. A rebuilding team can't grow with constant coaching changes (unless warranted).

There should be no captain named until the organization knows who they have in the 2020 draft. Could very well be selecting a captain then. Obviously don't name them captain right away...

Will be a long few years but seeing teams like the Hurricanes, Isles, Jackets, etc excel this playoffs gives one something to look forward too. Unfortunately, it looks like this organization will have one more go to being a contender with Melnyk at the helm.

I do.
Toronto choked.
They were up 3 games to 2 and failed to finish them off.
It is the third time that Toronto has lost to Boston in 5 or 6 years.
Toronto has more elite talent and should have won.
Toronto choked.
