The Panthers are gonna make a run at him. Tallon, Quenneville and the no state tax thing it's a real legit combo.
- tomburton99

I don't doubt it, but I just have a hard time seeing the Panthers contending any time soon. Even with him. Their goaltending situation is (frank)ed nine ways to Sunday

Unless they can convince Luongo to retire and totally (frank) the Canucks.

Except that this is real? Cause 11 million dollars in Florida is like 9.5 in New York. Must be nice for people like you to miss out on 1.5 million dollars and not care.

Can you site one free agent we missed out on because of a states tax rate? Show me one (frank)ing article of a free agent saying specifically they didn't sign in NY because they got some extra money somewhere else

Lil different, but Stone mentioned it. Or people “in the know”, as they say

I think it’s gonna become an issue, it’s not so much an individual thing, more an advantage to the no tax teams as a whole

Mark Stone signed a 9.5 million dollar deal as he was traded to Vegas from Ottawa. If he had stayed in Ottawa, to walk away with 9.5 million after taxes, he would needed a cap hit of 13 million. No state tax in Nevada.

Cheif cited a tweet than when Matthews was extended, his base salary is 700 and 750k through the deal. Becuase it's taxed at 53.5%. His signing Bonus is only taxed at like 15%

If you think Players aren't concerned with the money after taxes now, idk what to tell you.

It already is. Kucherov signed for a 9.5 extension from Tampa. He gets to keep a good chunk of that 9.5 million. (Every player gets hit with Escrow.)

I’m not sure what the number would actually be, but it’s almost like they can have or add another 5 mill + guy to a team that a state tax team couldn’t add. It’s a distinct advantage

I'm not saying he sucks. I just don't agree that he's this prized piece to the core that should be kept at all costs.

Fast is the same as Vesey, Stinky, Strome and a few dozen other guys, TO US.
To the team, he's the guy who has won the player nominated award for player/teammate of the year (or whatever they call it) 3 years running! To them, he is obviously more than that.

Vegas might change the game on this because they are building a legit hockey market. You know I'm on team MDW on the no state tax thing not being an issue in any sport. However, I don't think there has been a market quite like Vegas has been building. It would be like if the Panthers packed their building every night. A destination city that actually has fans.

Thats not the point. The point was Tom specifically said we could miss out on a free agent(Panarin) because of it.

They haven't missed on because Guys are staying placed that don't have taxes or are taxed less. Benn and sgeuin both Stayed in Dallas for under 10 million AAV. Stamkos, Stone, Kucherov, Paciorettyall signed to stay where they are for less than market value because they get to keep a better hunk of their money. Are being intentionally stupid? Because it's working.

We could. Most people would sign up for 11 million dollar over 9.5 million dollars.
