He's better than Skeji, but not as much as people want to admit. Not worth 7 million for sure. - 2sticks1puck
Trouba's a horse, he can play a lot of minutes and he'll stabilize the blueline for sure if they acquire him
like Larry Brooks said, that Ranger blueline would look really good with Trouba, Fox, DeAngelo/Pionk on right side
although I think one of DeAngelo/Pionk would probably go to Winnipeg as part of trade package if it happened

I would rather keep ADA(cost controlled) over Trouba. 2 years younger had 30 points in like 60 games on a poop team. Put Trouba on our team last year and I would bet he wouldn't have as good of numbers as ADA |

Just because you can play alot of minutes doesn't make you a 7 million dollar guy. He actually ranks 35th among D in TOI per game http://www.espn.com/nhl/s...false/position/defensemen
I'm not sure how much money he is going to want, but Alex Edler is top 10 in minutes played and probably would cost you less money and term. If you want someone younger, you can just sign Tyler Myers without giving up any assets, though I imagine he is going to want/get 7 million as well. |

yeah we'll see
I feel like it's a guarantee we will get Fox at some point but we are among a boatload of teams who will be after Trouba
he's from Michigan, he went to college there, I think Wings will be all over him |

Edler is too old
I could be talked into Tyler Myers, but with him coming in I'd really need them to find a way to get rid of Shatty |

Pionk I wouldn't mind moving if we have to move someone. I really want to hold onto Tony. He has the attitude I like in a defenseman and can put up numbers. Hopefully he gets a tad better in his own zone. |

Edler isn't a righty, which is drawback to him, but in theory he is an optimal target. You can just sign him for 2-3 years and hope that by the time his contract is up, the brigade his ready and his contract ends when guys like Fox,Miller, etc are all ready to take large roles with the team.
We don't need a homerun free agent defensmen, we just need a guy who can hold the fort for a couple years. |

I mean, it's all well and good, we can debate if Trouba is worth it and they shouldn't spend what it would take to get him
regardless of what we say though, all signs point towards the Rangers being players in the Trouba sweeps |

I don’t wanna let go of Deangelo either. They need guys like him and Leimeux, a big ole (frank) you to the opponent. Especially with all the youngins coming |

O it's the Rangers, we definitely will be in on him and Karlsson. We should say no to both IMO. |

The sad thing is if we get Panarin, you could argue Leimeux won't even be on the team next year. We would have a glut of forwards, someone is getting axed. Shame too, I could easily see him being my fav player on the team. |

Yeah. Other than Tony, who else is mean in front of the net? Pionk isn't bad but he is a small fella. Smith is ok but he was playing the 4th line. Skjei, Shatty, Staal etc. they are all weak in front of the net |

Agreed. All in on Panarin, but no for giving up a ton for Trouba + plus don't want to pay up w/ Shattty and Smith still on the books. No to Karlsson as well. D should be tried to be built from w/in. After this season, if needed, we can use $$ saved from Staal being gone to get a dman |

ADA is going to get much better once Ruff is doused with napalm. Keep him, he seems to have shown growth this season and should come into camp proving he belongs. |

Pass on Trouba, stay the course. Only guys to target are Panarin and Fox. If they miss, swing for the fences next year and hope to hit some home runs in both the draft and FA. |

That's the ideal scenario. Panarin instantly hastens the rebuild and possibly puts us in playoff contention next season.
If not, let's see if they improve enough next season to lure a stud UFA. |
