Two questions: 1. Would Philadelphia consider trading Couturier?

And, if so would a package of Trouba, Roslovic and Lowry be enough to get it done?

- TheUltimateJet

doubt they are actively looking to move him. it would take a seriously great offer to get it done.

now maybe a package of Nolan Patrick and some picks/prospects for Connor and Trouba. i'd be interested.

How long did you stand in front of the net before that deflection?
And, no, I'm not the one that said she traveled overseas. Not that facts matter to people like you.

Making decisions for business reasons alone is always for the best. I actually thought you might understand that.
Without interjecting they were right wrong or not but basing all decisions on business principles is bad business.
At some point an organization has to have base core values.
Comcast imo based this decision on expediency. Comcast will do whatever they feel they need to do to avoid social media backlash.

- bird_dog_pa

Why do they want to avoid a social media backlash? I'll ignore the first sentence. Business organizations pander to the core values that will make them the most money or keep them from losing the most money.

she sang a racially insensitive song
- 2Real

Did you somehow miss this part in Bill’s blog today....here

“The same song was also performed by the legendary Philadelphia native Paul Robeson; one of the most extraordinary figures of 20th century American history as a civil rights activist...”

It’s a fair question, did he sing a racially insensitive song?

Misguided or not, the statue is down. A version of a song that represented part of the Flyers history will no longer be played.

Do you expect to have a logical conversation with a liberal? They are incapable of rational thought and the ability to properly converse with people

I haven’t posted on here in a while for various reasons but I always read Bill’s columns, and this was one of his finest.

Yeah, I get why Comcast in the corporate atmosphere of 2019 did what they did, but I still don’t like it. I agree with MB and others that the song probably should have been put out to pasture a long time ago, but to erase Kate Smith from the history of the Philadelphia Flyers is just sad and wrong.

It’s a horrible trend in the United States today. Instead of using history, warts and all, as a teaching tool, we have embarked on the dangerous combo of revising or eliminating the episodes, events and people in our history that offend us today. This is extremely shortsighted and foolish.

History is a valuable teaching tool and should be cherished. People and events must be understood in the context of their times and eras. Yes, our children and future generations must be taught that things like slavery, racism, sexism et cetera are wrong, but they also need to know that these practices once existed and that we must remain ever vigilant that they don’t rear their ugly faces ever again.

Simply taking down statues and/or erasing people from history teaches nothing. So yeah, I get why Comcast felt the need to do this, but at some point, and hopefully some point soon, a major corporation will grow a backbone and will stand up to those who want erase history.

Im with you BiggE. I’ve tried to make almost the exact same points, only to be called racist by the idiot troll, 2real. Others don’t get that it’s not about the statue. That it’s a microcosm of the current climate in this country. I’m going to ignore the mental midgets who just don’t get it. Anyway, it’s good to hear from ya Bigg. Hope you are well!!👍

I’m sure quite a few businesses do but the well run and good companies have a set of core values and stick by them.
One example is Chick Fil A. They got tons of backlash and still do because they stand by their values and don’t change because the heat is on.
As a matter of fact I’d say the social media push to hurt their business back fired.
You, know I’m right.

Well, most people are smart enough to understand that just because you support something doesn't mean you hate something else. Its lazy thinking. Its just a dog whistle to try to divide people.

And don't forget the peach milkshakes.......dude
