Typical Flyer Fan trade. Trade a player coming off his worst career year for a player coming off his best career year. It makes no sense.

Would you rather give Hayes a 6-7 year deal? They are going to somehow acquire a top 6 center.

UFA route will require a long term contract

Although Ghost is not my favorite choice to trade he is one of the likely options, Same goes with Jake - Although sometimes watching him is frusturating as anything, decision making is not always there and would love to see him shoot more - that is a big consistent void to fill without him and cant question his ability, I would rather see what he brings with a little more structure like coach AV will bring,At least one big name is going theres no question there but hopefully its not just for the sake of making a trade - We need one stable top end D Man to calm things down in game situations.

Ghost for RNH?

It's really not that out there. And they have differing values. Because one guy had a good year and one guy had an off year means little. Ghost has the higher ceiling of the two. RNH fills more of a need and rumors are he's not looking to re-up in Edm. You can't just paint it as one guy having a good year and one guy having a bad one.

If they are looking at making a substantial change this off-season I think Ghost or Jake are probably the most likely names to get moved if a deal gets done.

It still wouldn't not shock me to see them move a future 1st and keep these guys they already have too.

Yeah. I’d like to hear some other proposals from posters as to how we get our 2C. Because they seem hellbent on this

Agree and am fine with that, not to go back to the old school Philly mentality of trading first and seconds like they don't matter but this team is screaming for a little help and they should be a solid squad - Cap space to use, stocked pile of prospects, trading a few picks is absolutely a good option - but nothing will matter without the Kate Smith God Bless America for luck before games.

Well some good teams are getting bounced in the 1st round. That should make for some interesting moves around the league this off-season. I think we'll find a guy.

Congrats Berube. I honestly saw very little of this series. Didn't think they had much of chance against Winnipeg.

Winnipeg is one of those teams that should have a very interesting off season.

What about bringing a guy like Nathan beaulieu in who might not get a qualifying offer if we trade ghost.

He is not non his level at all but could be a decent 3rd pairing option with some offensive skill

Sign either Brock Nelson or Anders Lee. Both are better value than Hayes. Then trade for the top pairing Defenseman using one of the D prospects and the #11 pick.

Lee is a winger I believe. I’m not that much against it but we are looking at long term deals here for our center position for these guys...with Patrick and frost waiting in the wings. Although the latter two would be easy to move for awhile.

I don’t know about the last trade. I like Myers/sanheim too much plus #11? This would have to be a really good player coming back

They have something like 12-13 RFA and UFA players on their 23 man squad. Something has to give. Trouba and Laine are both going to want the big bucks. I think they let Myers and Hayes walk.

I don’t know why you say it has to be a long term deal. Last year only 3 forwards got 5 years or more Taveras, JVR, O’Neal, , all the rest were 4 years or less .Most signed for 3years.

Re: Kate Smith—“Hello everybody...”

I think it is fair to wonder how/why this became an issue after so many years. Idk, maybe the Yankees know. I can’t tell anyone how they should respond. This is personally felt by many. I’m saddened, and this is just my thinking.

I didn’t become a Flyers fan until 2004. All the time I have been a fan of the team, I have heard the debate that it is time to move on from the Kate Smith/Broad Street Bullies era tradition. It had been years (now more than 30) since she died. The argument being that it was time to make new traditions for the new generation. While I enjoyed getting to watch the Kate Smith and Lauren Hart duet, I agreed that it was part of the past and should be carefully replaced and remembered fondly.

This is not how that should have happened...this is not what I envisioned...

I know virtually nothing about the statue or the person Kate Smith. I know this...she is not here to be asked about her past, how she now feels about issues of race or about the lyrics to the songs in question, songs she sang at one point but did not write. Who speaks for Kate? Personally, I think it is important to be open to talking about our past, how hate and prejudiced has impacted us and those we love. In this situation, the conversation is one-sided, and that is not a conversation at all.

Isn’t the real stuff like equality, education and poverty, for deep discussion to bring about change, in the here and now? Are we really still trying to change based on things that happened 50-100 years ago (or longer)? If we have come so far in areas of equality in this country and yet have so far to go, shouldn’t the mark and measure for current goals be based in the present? Our past as a whole has already been judged by society. It wasn’t pretty. The here and now needs a whole lot of work too, Imo.

If there is a way to be found to turn this situation for good, that is where I would like this to go. Not to erase the past but embrace the present and strive always for a better future.

Hockey is for everyone! Let’s go Flyers! And God Bless America!
