Yup. Brown was hitting and getting in there. Kadri. Muzzin. Anyone else? Bueller? Bueller?

Hyman I felt was the best Leaf.

Which should say something about everyone other than Matthews! But nope. Matthews, and only Matthews had a bad game...

- Steven_Seagull

Hyman had a good game 1 too, didn’t really notice him a lot in game 2...could have been the 12 pints I slammed after I noticed the game getting out of hand.

Nylander is very good along the boards...I know people are blind to that because they call him soft.

But it’s the playoffs and players step up their games. He’s going to have to as well and he didn’t in game 2.

Like I said we see a monster Willie tonight, I’ll take the heat if we don’t. I believe in his talent.

- Santo_44

He was pretty physical in game one and was rewarded. But yes, not so much in game two when things got nastier.

The issue is similar to Nylander. If your not going to hit and wave your stick at guys you had best produce, otherwise your a waste. I appreciate that he's skating and getting back on d but a 4th line plug can do that.
- aminnes

I don’t agree. I think he’s playing alot better than Willy. No puck luck yet. I think we’re going to get some penalties called on the Bruins tonight.

Except (as Down Goes Brown points out) Tampa is the physical team.

3rd in penalties this year.

Columbus was 30th.

- Atomic Wedgie

I don't know if penalty minutes necessarily show toughness. Penalties show a team is breaking the rules. If a team took 100 tripping penalties, they'd have plenty of PIM but it wouldn't make them tough.

There's also an amount of toughness that isn't quantifiable by stats. Guys willingness to take a hit to make a play. Guys willing to put in a solid effort even if they're down 3-0 to the #1 team in the league.

There's also a lack of pressure that Columbus benefits from.

The funny part about this comment is that without the big trades at the deadline for skill, Columbus would not be in the playoffs.
- RogerRoeper

It's as if people want to add some toughness to our already skilled lineup and not go with 18 goons.

Why aren't people getting this?

At times. Although game one Willy was better overall IMO. But why would they need to rely on calls? Oh ya, that was the strategy all year. Not going to work in the playoffs unfortunately.

Absolutely. Toughness can 100% be someone who isnt mentally afraid of being hit. Hasn't already shat their pants after a team says we'll be physical next game.

Zach Hyman is a guy that is tough enough for the playoffs and he would get destroyed by Chara in a fight.

There seems to be a level of confusion about what some people are asking for

A 40-year-old man who moved back into his parents’ home after a divorce is suing his folks after they allegedly destroyed his porn stash, which he estimates to be worth nearly US$30,000.

He’s 40. You can’t blame millennials for this one!

Edit: also, the amount he spent on porn probably had a part in his divorce...

I just want some push back. Some fight, some gumption. When a guy bowls over Andersen I want to see someone get in there. When Matthews gets decked into the boards someone needs to punch a face. Stop waiting for the ref to call a penalty and be men FFS. Of course taking a hit to make play, that should be customary, but not nearly enough on the Leafs. Boston can't hang with them in a skill game, as game 1 clearly showed. So now a less skilled team depth wise will win simply by intimidating and pushing guys around. It's actually sad.

Funny thing about Clarkson is that he was very good, both as a player and as a cap hit as a Devil BEFORE he became a UFA.

That's the key. Gotta find these guys as cheap, young, prime, ELC players.

Look at guys like Horton, Lucic, Clarkson, Simmons, Wilson; they all helped their teams go to the Cup Finals or even win a Cup but the way they play the game ruined their body and the longevity of their career. Wendel Clark is another one. Cam Neely. Lindros. These guys are great but their fire burns bright and quick.

"All of our Parisian buildings are safe, the safest buildings, truly, truly safe. We installed all state of the art sprinkler systems to snuff out a fire like that, the largest of fires. You see the importance of such safety measures and it begs the question "what were the builders and architects of that building thinking" when it comes to not installing a sprinkler system. Total failure on their part and they should be held accountable. I have some great friends, really great friends, who are world renowned architects that would agree"

Although the league will never admit it. I think officials have already been shown the game tapes and have been told not to let games get out of hand anymore.
That was horrible officiating and it wouldn’t go unnoticed.

You’re right, I’m sure a doormat could score more than 7 goals on Matthews wing.
