They are built for the regular season not the playoffs it seems
- nyrangers2

I get why people like to say that but I think it is more about the issue of winning the presidents trophy. I think no matter what some teams don't have the right makeup to completely forget about the regular season and mentally prepare for the playoffs. That trophy means nothing if you don't win the ultimate prize. It's like they mentally take the first few playoff games off or the compete level gets delayed until it's too late.

With a team like Columbus that comes out like a buzz saw that is a death sentence. That big lead early in game 1 TB looked amazing. They stopped trying and it will ruin their whole season. This team is unmatched if they are fully engaged. Now they have the pressure of elimination after 3 games. If they can somehow win 2 games the mental issues will swing back the other way. But they are in a fight with a team run by Torts. They are done. He won't let his team lose this series.

That first goal was brutal. (frank)ing brutal.

Really? It was a fantastic shot by Stone. It was basically a breakaway, and it was a wicked backhand shot that went right under the crossbar. But, Jones definitely hasn't been good.

They can certainly win 2 at home & are showing they can run with 1 of the best. Carolina/Isles series would be more fun than WSH IMO

Yeah, I like the Canes. Young team that plays hard and fun to watch. Looks like they might finally be turning that corner.

I meant all around. How the defense let him through etc. The shot was great but Jones just looked so dumb on that goal.

Jones stinks. The Sharks window is closing quick. I was thinking they could be in on Bobrovsky but then I looked at Jones' contract and they're not moving that when he makes almost $6M and has a modified NTC and 5 years left on the deal.

If Karlsson walks I am officially declaring that window "closed".

I really want a game breaker like Karlsson but I am leery of his health going forward.

No doubt he missed significant time this year and 11 games last year. But prior to that he played, going in reverse order, 77 games and then three straight 82 game seasons prior to that. One of his "big injuries" was that freak achilles-slicing a bunch of years back. I think he gets somewhat unfairly labeled as injury prone. I'm guilty of it too.

The groin thing this season was concerning, however. That kind of nagging stuff is a real female dog to get healed up 100%.

His modified NTC might as well be a full NTC. He can void deal to all but 3 teams.

He couldn't save a (frank)ing beach ball this year

Yeah that team is trending in the wrong direction. They're gonna have to dig themselves out of this series, minus Thornton for at least a game, and beat Vegas if they think they're ever going to have a shot at a Cup.

committing 7 years 77 million to him as he enters his 30's is risk I dont want Rangers to take

Not that I want them to sign Karlsson but you can't seriously be comparing Karlsson to any of the "big" names they have tried in the past. Nobody even comes close.

I mean Karlsson is >>> him, but Shatty was supposed to be a big deal at the time. We traded for him instead of signing him, but the husk of Kevin Hatcher was supposed to be a big deal too

Shatty is super disappointing but he is dog poop in comparison to Karlsson. poopty Karlsson (if that is even a thing) is still better than Shattenkirk's best year.
