Yeah all struggles should be pinned on Murray's AHL glove. |

Nah. He’s really been ok on his natural side.
I would probably make a rotation between Jacko, Pette and Gud moving forward. Määttä should be a starter. |

When people say Johnson has been okay... all that means is better than a dumpster fire. In no realistic world is that a good measure of okay. |

But how does that help Murray's AHL glove? |

To FLA
McCann, 2nd and 4th
To VAN
Gudbranson and 5th
Wasn't a popular move at the time. Still isn't now. But what do we know? We're just fans.

McCann was a hell of a steal, but Bjugstag is really coming along nicely. Since the trade he leads the penguins in shots on goal at 5v5 and in all situations. Him and McCann have already passed up the goal production of Brass and Sheahan this season, they played 89 games combined while Jugs and Canns played 52. What a trade. |

Agree, he's been better for sure. But he's playing with a guy who typically drives possession and... they're not driving possession. I'm not even going to bash JJ right now, but I think their best lineup is without him. |

I'm really enjoying that third line. Horn, Bjug and Simon are doing pretty well. I don't know if their stats look good but they sure look like they are creating chances every shift. I'm also excited to see McCan with Malkin and Kessel. If everything works out we should have 3 super solid lines.

Gonna disagree with you there. If he shoots his career average he is at 5 goals and 9 points and nobody makes much of him.
In other words he is good but don't be surprised when the regression kicks in. |

I agree that he's been better since moving to the left side but lets not kid ourselves. He still sucks at possession. Offense still dies at his stick. He takes 2 years to decide what to do with the puck when he receives it in the offensive zone. He can't pass because his passing sucks. So he has to dump it or shoot it and he normally decides to shoot it way after his window to shoot has closed which results in a semi breakaway.
Even if he's playing "OK", He shouldnt be playing ahead of Maatta or Petterson. |

Change of scenery/stystem can be a hell of a thing and while I tend to agree with this my guess he isn’t going to cool into previous production, but yes, some regression should be expected.
He’s now in a situation where he appears to have dropped the shackles. I didn’t pay any attention to him in FLA, so obviously I’m guessing about the shackles, but that team had major issues generating offense. |

I'm curious, what does "ok" constitute in regards to Jack Johnson? Do you legitimately believe he's playing well by an objective standpoint, or better relative to how bad he was before on his off side. If it's the former, what is your objective measure for good play by a blue liner, cus he's doing nothing IMO that is contributing to positive on-ice play. He's still poopty positionally, can't get the puck out of his own zone, doesn't facilitate offense, and dragging down a partner we know to be talented and productive in the process. The only thing I can think of that would lead someone to believe that Johnson has been "ok" by any objective standard of blue line play is that they like the physical aesthetic of his game, which isn't real hockey analysis. That's just being entertained regardless of on-ice outcomes.
By no means should Johnson be in a rotation with Pettersson and Gudbranson. Those two have actually played really well and are contributing to on ice play by several measures. |

Changing teams doesn't change your shooting percentage from 8% to 20% |

He's also only 22 and came into the league with 19 years old if I'm not mistaken, so he has room for improvement. |

Correct, but I’m just saying I don’t necessarily think he’s going back to 8%.
I guess what I’m also unaware of is how many shots he’s attempting as opposed to before. |

At 5v5 his iSCF60 and iHDCF60 are basically the lowest of his career with PIT. |
