how bad are the Maple Leafs?
they can't beat the Rangers with Auston Matthews making 925K and Mitch Marner making 894K?
Good luck to them with all those 11 million a year salaries and trying to improve
Tampa and Boston don't have one 11 million dollar guy |

Now is the time for someone to poach Marner. It’s amazing how far the legacy of Babcock is falling as a coach. |

you could make a argument that they didn't need Tavares, Kadri was supplying a lot of these points the past couple of years that Tavares now is
he's just totally blown their salary structure out of whack
Marner is better than Tavares and Matthews so he should just get 12 mil a year from them |

Last night was about as good as it's gonna get for the competition. The Devils, Sens, Kings and Wings all won. Whike Edmonton, Anaheim and Arizona also got a point each. Only two teams could (frank) that up, the Rangers and Leafs. |

Because Marner is a wing, I don’t think he gets 12. It’ll never happen, but I’d love to see the Rangers negotiate a sign and trade to get him for 8 years. I’d probably give them Kreider, 2 firsts, and something else if those 2 1sts aren’t our top pick |

Jan, you said in the opening sentence that the rangers may have blown their chance for fifth but looking at the standings they are fifth with Anaheim gaining a point in the shootout. Is there something I'm missing? |

What’s crazy is that even if TOR says yes to that deal, they won’t be able to fit Kreider. |

Leafs have $71 mil for 14 players already signed for next year which leaves about $13-$14 mill depending on how high the cap goes to sign around 8-9 guys including marner. A guy like Kapanen could be offer sheeted for around $4 mill and would only cost a 2nd rounder |

Actually it’s more like 18 players, Rosen signed a one way contract at $750k, at $74 million. The cap should go up 4 million. Next year leafs have stars signed and a bunch of Barney Ruble and Fred Flintstones filling out the roster. The year after when their young Defensemen are ready...look out. Funny to hear all this from a team that still employs Glen Sather lmao |

So if the cap goes up $4 mil they have $10mil to sign 8 guys, one being marner at what, $9-$10 mil? Leaves how much for the rest of the players? Tell me a time where Sather was in this much cap trouble. And what are we looking out for? Zaitsev for another 5 years? lol goodluck |

Look at games in hand for New York compared to Anaheim and several other teams. New York has a better chance of sliding down, meaning into the six to nine range in the lottery, because they have more games left to play. |

They probably would match that you’d think. The rangers need impact players in the worst way. Kapanen is good, but Marner is elite. It’ll cost a pretty penny for sure, but it would be worth every bit to get Marner. He’s someone who helps us now and we’ll into the future |

I know I’m about the only one on this side, but I’m ok with it if it happens. Last night was a great game for what I want to realistically see. Guys that you hope have meaningful roles in the org all contributed to the win down all the way to of course Georgie. If we can continue playing well with the younger guys, it builds a great foundation. |

I don’t see the leafs giving up Marner, no chance. They would probably try to trade nylander instead. And they simply won’t have the money to match an offer on Kapanen.

Sather no cap trouble but everything else...you don’t think they can do a trade, injuries...it will all work out. |

Sather has been way better in the cap era than he gets credit for. We’ve missed the playoffs now 3 times in this era: the past 2 years and the other one where had we won a shootout we woulda made it. We also recently had a 4 year stretch where we could have legitimatly won the cup in any of those years. The leafs have a good foundation, but I’m not sure they’ve been serious contenders at any point in the cap era. Throwing shade at Sather seems like throwing stones in glass houses |

I live in Toronto and all the media are saying the same thing that the Leafs can't keep everyone and at least one, two have to go. Marner, Kapanen and Johnsson are RFAs and Gardiner is a UFA. Yea no one likes Gardiner in Toronto but you still have to replace him. But yea everything will work out with the salary cap |

Cap hell next season. Year after young players matured and they won’t “lose” any of their stars. Lots of work for the next year by the capologists. Robidas island, Clarkson contract dumped, lots of money to “fix” problems. No worries. Better to have talent and have cap issues than no talent(jimmy Vesey lol) |

feel free to offer sheet marner. Would love the rangers next 4 years lottery picks |

lol Yea typical Leafs fan overvaluing their prospects thinking they will step in and all be top 4 D, sure. And you talk about Vesey but not Nylander's $7 mil a yea for 5 goals, great contract. Yea cap hell where they won't get to keep all their "stars" so still don't know what you are talking about. |

Dude you guys are finally relevant after years of being in the basement. It’s hysterical to me that you’re making fun of the Rangers talent that just beat your team last night. Anyway the rangers are rebuilding and doing it the way it’s supposed to be done. It’s not going to happen over night. In regards to your cap situation I am sure it will get figured out. Wouldn’t be surprised to see someone throw an offer sheet at someone and you guys not being able to match. |
