I'd like the flames to do well.

This may sound bitter, but I'd like Columbus to go out in the first round. I dont think duchene will re sign, and that makes the first round pick higher. So il likely ne cheering for who ever they play.nothing personal.

I know it was over a decade ago, but I still can't cheer for Carolina after beating the Oil in 2006. Ill be cheering for the Jets and Flames!!

For me in the East it's the Caps in the West there's so many good options but I'm gonna agree with most people on here, in the West it's the Flames

Montreal is closer than Toronto by a significant amount. And yes alot of Sens fans cheer for the Habs if the Sens are out. Whether their parents were Habs fans or they once were before the Sens came along. Are all these people stupid??

Cheering for a team because they're the closest team or your parents were fans are pretty much the only valid reasons to cheer for a team.

Picking a team just because they're Canadian is silly since we all hate each other most of the time and all the Canadian playoff teams this year are led by Americans.

But if you ask most Canadians who theyre going for in the spring when their team is gone, most will say whatever Canadian team is left so the cup comes back to Canada. The people who say they'll cheer for whatever Canadian team is left are people who don't really care and don't have strong feelings about their team. The Cup also comes back to Canada for most of the summer every year already.

So let's say it's a team from the USA vs. a team from Canada.

But what if the team from Canada has a lower % of Canadian players than the USA team? Now you're actively rooting against the larger % of your countrymen. If you're going to be patriotic, why not hope for the largest % of Canadian-born players to win?

Also, when it comes to pro sports, I've never cheered for/against any team based on what country half of their games are played in.
