Serious question: how has Guddy looked so far?
Always wanted him to pull it together here, but looked too overwhelmed. Heard he's been keeping it together more out there? |

He's actually been good. I think most of us keep waiting to see the "real" Gudbranson show up, but hopefully this is the new real Gudbranson.
I'm not saying he's like OMG amazing, but he looks like a different player. |

@Nuck: he’s 8/8 having good games. He’s passing the eye test and all of his metrics are pristine. He’s a physical presence, and that’s nice and all, but that’s not defining him. Sound hockey is. He’s not the hit chaser and turnstile I expected him to be. If anything, I’d say he’s actually been a quick skater for his size, as seen where he caught up with Conor Sheary in open ice last night to prevent a fast break. He’s really thriving in this system. |

I'm not only surprised by his skating, but also his decision-making. He makes smart quick decisions with the puck. |

The thing that’s giving me hope that this is just who he is that he’s not playing matador defense and guys aren’t flying by him. If he were getting turned like a top every other shift and the chances generated from that just weren’t going in, I’d be pretty concerned. But he’s been totally sound positionally and keeping up for the most part with quick forwards. That’s not necessarily something you can luck into over the course of a 10 game sample size. |

I said the other day that I believe him to be faster than Hainsey and Gill, both of which were used in the top 4 of Pens cup runs. |

" I don’t understand why Brian Dumoulin doesn’t score more goals?"
He gets so many good looks. It really is odd he doesn't find the back of the net more often. His shot isn't great but he should've lucked into a few more by now. |

Because with Letang as his partner, and usually either Sid or Genos line in front of him, he will very rarely be the go to for the shot and will usually have 2 or 3 other Pens touching the puck after he does, before it goes in the net. |

One other thing I notice is how much opposing players pull when going to battle of a puck with him along the boards... for obvious reasons, but he takes advantage. |

That's good to hear! Sounds like one of those change-of-scenario type of situations. I think him being counted on to be a go-to guy here for both leadership and play put too much weight on him... playing in a vet-heavy structured system seems to be a place for him to focus on himself more. Plus, playing with a better team in general usually helps
Glad he's playing well, wish him the best. Seems like a good, solid guy |

Sid sends him gold about twice a game. Wide open with time and he comes up empty. He gets a lot prime chances his % is poop |

I think people are underrating how bad Dumoulin’s shot is. It’s really, really bad. Like lower tier NHL bad. It’s soft as hell and super inaccurate. Did you guys see the video the Pens put out where him and Jake went up against each other in the accuracy competition? Dumo was atrocious. |

Hahaha. So unfair. One of the best shooters against one of the worst.
Working on your shot is by far the most enjoyable thing to practice in hockey. Especially with the resources these guys have. No excuse for having a poor shot at that level. He's a big guy too. |

I dont know..he only has 37 scoring chances this season. If what you're saying is true he'd have anywhere from 68 to 136 SC's. |

Thought the PP looked different despite the same players. Lots of quick passes, especially down low, prevented the Sabres from getting into ideal positioning. Then again, the Sabres looked uninterested most of the night. |

So is Tampa desinted to be only the 9th team to win the Presidents trophy and win the cup or are they primed for a first round ousting? |

I can see them losing in the ECF against PIT/WSH
I don't think TOR/BOS has it in them to beat TBL.
MTL/CBJ/CAR don't have the firepower for a 1st round upset either. |

Gudbranson is playing a solid physical game. One play last night that really impressed was when Buffalo had a three on two. Sheary had the puck down the right wing and another Sabre did the old center drive and tried to take a piece of Gud. Gud threw him off to the side, blocked Sheary's shot then cleared it. Very impressive. |
