Am i wrong in thinking Gordon should not be throwing Hart to the wolves in his first game back vs Washington? Granted all of the next few games will be tough.

I don’t think Hart or Elliott should be thrown in there. I’m actually angry Talbot hasn’t played.

I’m not looking forward to this one.

I'm assuming Hart has looked really good in practice. I don't think they would throw him to the wolves if they felt he wasn't ready.

To become more than iron, you must be alloyed and if ultimately toughened, forged.

I admitted, months ago, that the early version of this team was not rewarding to me in just about every way.

I was right to hold disappointment close then.

I can't continue down that dark alley of broken dreams. I have emerged, if not to the Promised Land, at least to a suitable Purgatory with visits from the family and some decent food. MUCH better.
This is fun. The only reason I follow anything. I think the first line is to show my hope for this season's impact on the Flyers.

Considering Elliot played pretty well against Washington after relieving Hart last time I would roll with him. Yes he has started a lot lately but he is the hot hand. I would give Hart Toronto and Elliot Pittsburgh. If we don't take 5 of the 6 points then I alternate Hart and Talbot the rest of the way. We do need to give Talbot a few games to see if we want to resign him, because if he really stinks it up maybe we consider bringing Elliot back for 1 more season.... depending on what his injuries were and how comfortable the Doctors are that they wont crop up again.

It's all in juniors, college, or injured for the season. It's there...

In fact, in this years draft I would likely take a forward with our #1 pick, but then select defenseman for a lot of the other picks so in 6 years they will be ready.

Bill's projected 3rd line for tonight's game would be a very nice 4th line for next season.

I totally see not wanting to feed him to the wolves, but I kinda feel like Carter Hart is the type of player who not only welcomes the challenge, but might even relish the opportunity. He’s probably champing at the bit.

I don’t think a bad outing will crush him. On the other hand, if he has a great game, well that might be huge for their slim post season hopes.

I’m all for letting the kid eat

Athletic has a great piece on Rick Wilson today. This quote from Gordon is him backing Wilson wanting to move Sanheim to top pair earlier in the year.

“To me, you’re giving a player that has size, reach, skating ability, good hockey sense, an opportunity to make (the) biggest contributions with your team,” Gordon said. “For me, it was a no-brainer. I’d rather have a guy who might make some mistakes early with the increased workload, but you know that over time, those mistakes will be diminished and they’ll get better reads. It’s no different than with Travis Konecny, Patty (Nolan Patrick), and those younger forwards. They have to learn what they can and can’t do, and sometimes it’s by their own identification of their mistakes, and sometimes it’s by the coaches’ identification of their mistakes.”

Players (young dmen) later add in article how Wilson has a great positive outlook with their play, especially when they make mistakes. That he’s more positive than before (Murphy) and that it’s been a great relief and more enjoyable to play under. 😁

I am assuming Voracek's in person hearing did not go well?

You think they will re sign Raffl? I think I’m in favor of it. I like him, and a 1-2 year deal would be good. Raffl, Laughts and Hartman as mentioned should be a really decent 4th line.

They will need someone to center a 3rd line, to get G back to LW. I think they will by trade or UFA get a C this summer.

Not a chance Bettman would shorten it. If he did, then every GM and team would have him review every single suspension which I’m sure he has no interest in doing.

I'd be in favor this. He's a really good 4th line player in my opinion.

On Raffl...absolutely resign him. His value (things he does on the ice vs cap hit) seems quite high to me.

The only thing that worries me is if he is indeed ready. If he had a high ankle sprain those are no joke.

He cant really re injure it and its all about pain management (I know this from experience.)

Elliot would be the other choice, but I wouldn't start Talbot for sure. He must be rusty as hell and I wouldn't want to put him in for the same reason some don't want to start Hart.

Hart is our best goalie, so if he is ready, get him in there. (with a short rope)

Find a way to win. No matter what, a regulation loss has to be avoided. Team game all the way. Just win!

2 quick ones and he's out or any sign of laboring from the injury.
