TJ Brodie was awful. Time to have him sit and bring back Valimaki.

I'd sit him. Brodie doesn't do well when he plays too much and he looks tired. Give a couple games to Stone/Kylington/Prout and let Brodie eat popcorn for a couple. Maybe even give Gio a game off … I get the feeling he could use some rest.

Agreed.

It does look like Peters has been trying to get the players as much rest as possible tho, squeezing in every possible day off and skipping some pre game skates completely. He’s been keeping a close eye on everything as usual.

Yeah if Vali is going to be in for playoffs he should be getting some ice time. Unless they’re keeping him down for the season. Log jam of defenders.

For the second consecutive year, the Calgary Flames have won the Todd Cordell Bowl™. In 2017-18 they picked up a narrow 7-6 victory on aggregate. This year, they ran away with the crown winning both games by an 11-5 margin.

This is massive for the Flames and their fans. Whether they win the Stanley Cup or not, they're still going home with some hardware this year.

And the losers got a nice consolation prize - a game day blog. Perfect.

Again, looking at single-game save percentage is completely meaningless. You'd think with the amount of time you spend trying to analyze stats, you'd understand that key concept by now. Rittich was fine.

Agreed he has been brutal lately but the problem is if you sit Brodie you need to add a right shot D into the lineup (Prout or Stone).
Vali, Kylington and Fantenberg all shoot left and Peters wont want those 3 making long passes out of our zone on their backhands.
Prout scares me more than Brodie if were talking more than playing spot games.
Stone needs some games down the stretch so we know if he is ready.

I said this the other day gio need to rest just alittle,Brody needs to watch from the press box,and Valimkai, stone kylington have to get some playing time agents quality teams like the jets or sj.
I understand that winning the division is important but it’s not the end of the world if we play Vegas first round. The stars and wild are two teams that have been playing playoff hockey nw for 3 weeks. They both have good goaltending and veteran players. Their not pushovers! Vegas is with stone now much deeper. But honestly they have been winning alittle bit with smoke and miriors. THe flames seem to play their best defensive hockey agents Vegas. I think they match up we’ll agenst them. And flurry has played a tone of hockey!! LOng run last year and over played this year could be a good recipe to sht the bed.

Gio-Andersson
Hanifin-Hamonic
Fantenburg-Stone/Kylington/Brodie (rotated in 3 game stints).

Brodie is really hurting this team most games (again, like the last two years), and while he was awesome the first 40 games this year, he seems to have forgotten how to play that way. I don't trust him at all. I hope he gets traded in the offseason. Along with Neal.

I remember before Christmas everyone was loving Brodie and I suggested his value was at an all time high and they should entertain the thought of trading him ...I caught a lot of flack from regulars in here ...now everyone wants him to sit and not play top line anymore ...funny how things can change so quickly lol

Brodie has always been as good as gio makes him ....I’d love to see him on the 3rd pairing at best now

The vast majority of people on here have known Brodie to be streaky for several years now. Everything you say has been discussed to death for a long time.

The two years that Gio has been up for a Norris have been when Brodie has been playing with him on the right side. Coincidence? Doubt it.

Anyone remember when Bingo said Peters was holding back the Canes?

And how he loved Ferland?

Good times.

He’s played well when he’s played. He was on pace to have a career season but he’s been hurt a few times this season.

So what you are saying is the reason why Gio is such a good d man is because of Brodie. Give you're head a shake.

No but I'm saying Brodie hasnt been as bad as everyone likes to dump on him. Easy to focus on just mistakes & ignore his good aspects of his game. Yeah he is good for 1 or 2 glaring boneheads per game but he also has a good transition game, makes good pinching plays & actually has a pretty good poke check. His style seems to mesh with Gio pretty good & Gio would be the first one to tell you that, a$$hat.

He’s been fine, but Lindholm is clearly better and was being held back by that team, as was Peters.

Bill Peters last 3 years with the Canes:
35-31-16
36-31-15
36-35-11

Rod Brind'amour's first year as HC (13 games remaining):
38-24-7

Always said Peters was a good tactical coach, but not the right one in Carolina and that he had room to improve. Brind'amour makes some weird personnel decisions as well.

Ferland is fine, he just has a nagging upper back injury that's seen him in and out of games a lot.

Dougie's turned it on big time and has as many goals as Hanifin has primary points.

Really the only part where the deal hasn't worked out as hoped for Carolina is with Lindholm exploding, which I don't think anyone saw coming, but good for him because he's great.

Wow Kevin R, you are really sensitive. First of all Brodie is a liability and those 1-2 bone head plays as you call them will cost the Flames a series in the playoffs. Maybe you should go back to you're colouring book. I'm happy to buy some crayons for you, you big baby.

Brodie has very little to do with Gio's success. He also meshed very well with Hamilton and would mesh well with pretty much anyone you'd put him with. His numbers are better this year, but that has a lot to do with the forwards he's getting the puck to and the fact that it made more sense to have Hamilton shooting it last year.
