Not a terrible deal, no one takes the Stars place in the standings into account, deal could be at least one 1st if not probably a middle of the 2nd round, I’ll take it

At this point it makes no sense. It makes Gorton look completely incompetent.
- JRR1285

If the going offer was a 2nd from interested teams Gorton had to figure whose was gonna hold the most value. He obvioisly thought Dallas' 2ND might be wprth the most. Time will tell if he was wrong or right

I think the issue I have most with this is, they coulda waited til Monday and probably got the same return, if not more. Like a B prospect or something instead of the 3rd rder...didn’t really expect a first. It’s just hard to have faith in the scouts in the second and third rds when they threw a knuckleball with Lindbom last year, when they had Shesty and Georgy already in the org. It was just dumb and who’s to say they go off the board again with these picks

I said before, maybe they have a left fielder in mind with this pick

That’s probably hitting the nail on the head, the best second they could there hands on. Like with Grabner last year

I’m going to post s hot take: this return is acceptable. It was only a month ago, we thought he was worth a third max. Although it’s unlikely, we could wind up getting two 1sts out of it. If he does resign with us, we made a 2nd and 3rd appear out of thin air. I guess getting a B prospect would have been nice, but I don’t think we could have gotten any impact guys. Btw don’t think we could have waited. Teams might have given up on getting him and just went after other targets instead

Not really. This team is years away from competing. Let the picks mature at their own rate.

Hey...if Zuuc returns, it will be a 2nd, 3rd and Zuuc for Zuuc

Zucc at 31 doesn't have the upside of Dizingel, and will require a 4/5 yr. deal at 6mill per. Dzingel can be offered a bridge deal by his new team. Maybe GMs in league aren't going to offer what many expected b/c Zuuc is looked at as a guy who is strictly a rental and might very well just resign w/ NYR this offseason

If he comes back, great, If he doesn't it's not a big deal. You're talking to the one Ranger fan that has come to terms with this rebuild. I hope they go full tank soon. I personally don't want them to be good until Smith, Staal and Shattenkirk are all off this roster. I loathe those 3. They need so much more depth everywhere other than in net. So I'm fine with what they are doing.

You have pieces in place that I really like going forward.. Georgiev looks Good, collecting picks, rubtsev, zibanejad... there are things to look forward to.

I am actually thrilled with the deal, I know a lot of people wanted more, but I love it

I love the "swinging for the fences" attitude

at worst, they essentially got the same deal for Zucc they got for Grabner last year

but at best, can you imagine getting 2 first rounders for a 32 year old winger who has 11 goals this year?

and the retained money? who cares?

the only thing it prevents them from doing is retaining on a different contract before Monday, they should be able to trade Hayes or McQuaid without retaining

I love taking a risk like this, it's why I love the Kravstov pick so much, dont play it safe, swing for the fences

I’m hoping he likes Dallas. If he resigns and we wind up with a 1st and a 2nd, that’s highway robbery

I'm sorry I have said it before and here it is again. I don't like Gorton he was trained by sather. This front office is inept.

He also traded Andrew Raycroft in exchange for Tuukka Rask. So he can spot talnet.

In this instance there was no talent to be spotted. If one of those conditionals turn into a 1st it was worth it. If zucc resigns with us I’ll be happy too. The worst scenario, which could easily happen, is they don’t win 2 rounds and zucc signs somewhere besides Dallas or nyr.
