Watching him play lately, these are my observations.
1) frustrated
2) trying to make big moves into the offensive zone, only to get stripped of the puck.
3) lazy on the boards in the offensive, neutral, defensive zone.
4) is not using his body
5) pouting when he misses an attempt on goal.

I say SEND HIM DOWN

- sparky1957

I agree, he needs to be sent down or up to the pressbox, but he's young, the jets can't give up on him . I still think he will be a productive player for the Jets, we just need to temper our expectations on how much of a start he'll really be.

The Jets aren't using Laine properly playing with Little and he look lost. When was the last time his line, or any line scored on a rush? Dump and chase is all they do. Maurice does nothing to change up his lines, defensive systems, power play, penalty killing or use his talented bench properly. They're always out shot and they spend most of the game in their own zone. This team has a 1st line, an invisible 2nd line and two 4th lines. Copp with Lemieux and Appleton are the only line that is playing well and yet they get dumped on. When has Lowrys line done anything? Perreault is so over-rated because he fly's around the ice but does nothing. This falls on Maurice, no one else. Imagine this team with Quenville as head coach.

Thank god, get Laine TF out of winnipeg. Wicked goal scorer but I can't stand the guy right now, hate to say it
- AlfieisKing

You have to score goals in order to be a "wicked goal scorer". Laine's career trajectory is the same as Jimmy Carson's. Carson had 37, 55 & 49 goals in his first three years in the league. After that his highest total was 34 goals, 5 years after he scored 49. He has the most goals scored by a teenager followed only by Laine.

The Jets should do what the Kings did with Carson and that is trade him. Carson netted the Kings Gretzky. Imagine what Laine could get?

Dano is likely an effective 3rd liner at the NHL level. He had top 6 potential, and played up to it elsewhere, but the Jets have totally d*cked his development.

I have not, however, claimed Dano to be elite in any facet of the game, nor do I run from any comments or claims

Come on Rexy, yesterday you stated that Laine was like Ovechkin. Then you said that Ovechkin was better but played in a different era. This despite that both Ovechkin and Laine have played in the same league the last 3 years. All of which, Ovechkin beat Lain in goals and points.

I like this! Well done
I’ve also said 55 escapes a lot of negativity in here when a lot of times it’s warranted. He had a great view of a few goals last night while doing nothing.

- Ross77

He's tired, give 55 a break. The man is #2 in minutes played by a forward. This is Maurice's fault for absolutely playing Wheeler and Scheifele into exhaustion.

Scheifele has been nothing but amazing this year. MVP! MVP!

The person who had the best view of goals was #8. How many was he on for?

Trouba is also having the worst corsi season (47.6) of his career despite playing with the Jets #1 defenseman in Morrissey. Yet he believes he is worth 8 million a year.

Imagine that Laine making 10 and Trouba making 8. 18 million dollars of excellently spent cap space!

..ya that game ..file it in the shat drawer. and move on!..playoffs with hopefully a healthy roster... this team will be extremely competitive imho..maybe a minor tweak?.with depth player's?..maybe a 1st?..for the right peice..the jets do have the ability to add a prospect!..but hopefully they dont go crazy..they're a great team pretty much as is..best of luck with the rest of the season

When you are standing right beside a guy and letting him score it’s not your coaches fault. Take off your 55 love glasses. He has faults like everyone else and shares the blame in this with everyone else.

Trouba is also top ten in nhl for D with 5v5 points and putting up a career high in points. Why do you use excuses of Shiefele being over played but not Trouba? Double standard much?

Trouba should be producing offensively. Since Byfuglien’s hurt, He’s gotten power play time. And, as for his 5v5 points, the man is on the ice with Scheifele all the time, they should be high. Would love to see his 5v5 stats if he was on the ice with Laine or Lowry.

One more thing defensemen are accustomed to playing heavy minutes. Forwards normally don’t play as much as them. Scheifele’s the exception to that rule.

Nice try. Trouba currently stands tied for 39th in even strength points. Tied with such elite talents Michal Kempny, Ryan Pulock, and Cody Ceci.

C’mon Ross, leave 55 alone. He is such a great leader and player. He is an inspiration to us all, always trying to get better. What an athlete!

If you go according to naturalstattrick.com he has 16 5x5 points.

I guess you mean Even Strength which includes 4x4, 3x3, and pulled goaltender situations. that puts him 24th with 21 points.

It's pretty sad when Sheif starts getting blamed for the Jets recent woes or even the top line for that matter. Sheif is everything you'd ever want in a player. A true gentleman, a hockey nerd who studies game tape after game tape, a fitness nut, and all heart. Give it a break. He's not going to get three points every game. I'll take 12 Scheifs any day over just about any other forward you could put in the lineup. It's asinine to blame him for the recent malaise.

The fault lately clearly falls on the likes of Laine, Perreault, Trouba, even Morrisey, lack of Buff being there, and a few others, and the PP. I'm driving in from Palm Springs to take in the Vegas game in the box , I'll see if I can get more colour on the trade scene while I'm there. I'm told Ehlers might dress but its a game time thing.

The fault lies with every single player in that room ( and coaching staff ) I can say it’s worse to put blame on a 20 year old than it is on a veteran in that room like 55, that’s for sure. In this recent case for the jets no one is exempt, no one. If it’s team game and we hope one day for 55 to captain this team then you bet your ass he shares in the blame or he’s no future captain.

I also said that it wasn’t meant to be a direct comparison between, so much as a comparison of impact for their team. Do you think Dahlin is even close to Erik Karlsson? You know, the other comparison I threw out? No.

You’re also talking about prime Ovechkin vs development years Laine.

I’d say the fault is almost all the way on Maurice, and the only light at the end of the tunnel for us is the entire coaching staff being fired after the inevitable round 1 collapse were stumbling towards

P.S. Ceci is barely an NHL player, if he is at all
