James I like your blogs the same way I like Evil Dead, both may not have a lot of deep content, but they are really entertaining and unique. |

It was made by Raimi either as a school project or right afte he graduated. When the studios saw it, they gave him a budget to make a "sequel," (Evil Dead 2) which is sort of a do-over in a lot of ways (the plot is almost identical), similar in a lot of ways to Terminator 1 + 2.
It's shockingly violent, and Bruce Campbell is hilarious. Raimi really leaned into the campiness for the 3rd one - where Ash goes back to the middle ages with his chainsaw and a car - Army of Darkness.
By then, Raimi had realized he was making gory, campy slasher comedy flicks.
One other thing to bear in mind: that level of violent SciFi/horror was revolutionary in a lot of ways. As was his first person creature camera that ran through the woods |

I can definitely see from a film making or genre perspective why people like this movie, but I just didn't.

To each his own. You really need to see it for the first time as a stoned 15 year old. Or at least, I did. |

A Full House reference? Oh man! I don't know if that's lame or if I should give you respect. |

I know, all these mainstream/cult movies aren't obscure enough for you to like ("Hey man, I'm like mainstream stuff, I love REM!"). Just stick to watching Lost in Translation and The Crying Game. |

I just read a stat flash by while watching Anaheim/Vancouver. Galchenyuk leads the Yotes with twelve goals. Unfortunately it is the lowest team leading total in the league. Twelve goals in forty six games... prorated, is that a thirty goal pace? I suggest we start calling Alex a twenty goal scorer. |
