I'd like to see Lowry given a chance as a scoring C, but that's never going to happen because Maurice views him as a checking C. - BWJumper
He is in the right role for his skillset and that is why he is finding success. He is a 3c, one of the best.

No reason his skill sets can’t be utilized higher in the lineup |

True. But he's also never been given a chance to become a great 2 way player.
Run a second line of
Conner-Lowry-Laine for a few games. The worst case, it doesn't work out and you can put Lowry back in a checking role |

Don’t put two shooters together with Lowry.
Perreault-Lowry-Laine works way better. |

He is not a good enough skater to be a number 2c on a full time basis. His abilities require shorter shifts and preferably less trips from end to end. Perfect for defensive zone starts, gain possession, shovel the puck to the net, whistle and change. His utilization is as perfect as can be expected. |

Brassard just may be the answer, Eric Stall also should be considered, but If Douche is available for a similar price, take him. Any of those guys would be a big upgrade from Little. |

I agree that those are good pickups, where I don't agree is that Brassard & Staal are not big upgrades from Little (exception of Duchene). Little gets the job done with players with different skill sets and various stages of development. He wins draws, takes the heat for Laine's development gaffs, is low maintenance and puts up ok 5v5 points for a fair cap hit. Can we do better with someone else, probably, but don't expect a big upgrade. Stasny arrived with the line on the upswing and rode a hot streak for a couple weeks, tailed off until playoffs and then put up PP points. It was a change and an upgrade, but not a big upgrade from Little 5v5. |

Gonna have to disagree with you on that. His utilization is as boring and safe as can be expected. Two years ago? I’d agree with you completely. Three years ago I wanted him gone.
I don’t think you realize he’s a lot closer to Scheifele than he is to a 3C, impact wise.
All signs point to Lowry being a successful 2C, so why not try it? |

Scheifele now has the same amount of points as Little, Lowry and Copp combined. |

I disagree, Brassard for sure is not an improvement over Little and Staal only Marginally |

That's some fancy math. Sheifele plays 22 minutes a game. The other 3 are C for the rest of the game 38 minutes combined. |

For all our griping, the Jets are treading water better than the Preds. Since they got healthy with Forsberg's return Jan. 7 they are 8-8, with 5 of those losses at home. Jets are 10-6, 1 home loss.....
And what kind of deal with The Devil did Craig Berube make!?.... |

Was at the game and tried to watch Hayes as much as possible. He plays pp and pk, seems to be able to hang onto the puck through traffic but is no speed demon. But, he seems to be able to play make and not cough up the puck. Looked ok. |

Yes. The Jets are fine. Last night's game would not have been close if not for some bad calls by the refs and some crazy bounces/deflections. Buff looking better, Tanev was awesome, Myers a game-saving defensive play, Scheif being Scheif.Jet's 4th line continues to dominate the opposition. All is cool in Jets land with the exception of Laine, who is a liability on the ice shift after shift.
As the playoffs approach my concerns have changed somewhat. I don't fear Nashville or virtually anyone as a first or second round matchup with the exception of St. Louis. As Liverpool is alluding to, they now have their goaltending problems solved in Binnington , and now healthy , they seem to be clicking on all cylinders and living up to their pre-season hype. What happens if they trade for Dusch, Stone, or Panarin......yikes ! One can only hope they face Nashville in the first round and the two teams beat each other up in a 7 -game series. |

Ehlers will be back in a week or less. Possibly a trade coming for a guy like Stone. Jets 3rd and 4th line are pretty solid with the exception of maybe Perreault. The top line will likely stay the same.
Here is something to ponder. Who is vulnerable? Call it blasphemous, but it's not entirely out there that it could be Laine. As mentioned earlier he leads the NHL in turnovers, and overall has done absolutely nothing the last 20 games. He could end up in the press box for a decent stint, and the second line could be something like Ehlers - Little - Stone , with Roslovic or Perreault gone in a trade. Jets could be a better team without Laine, at least this year, or until he matures. It also wouldn't help his case in contract talks....an added benefit.
If Laine stays , then the Jets biggest trade chip has got to be Perreault. This is especially true if we don't want to lose out on Roslovic's potential upside. My bet is Chevy has Perreault's name on the board with a big circle around it. |

Perreault - definitely expendable due to his contract. We need the cap space.
Laine - looks lost and disinterested out there. His poor work ethic must drive the coaches and his teammates crazy. It’s not Little’s fault. |

His contract should make him the safest player to keep. You don’t trade value contracts to save space. You dump Kulikov, and let the “soon to be overpaid”s in Myers and Tanev walk. |
