Maybe the defense should worry more about defense than scoring. Just saying.

I agree, defensively they are not that great. They get pushed around and constantly get caught flatfooted or just turned around. Subban is a defensive liability, and takes dumb penalties. Hamhuis is a joke. Maybe second line needs to be pushed down to the third line to wake them up.

This team isn't good right now .
second line just plain sucks .

Can't recall how many times I've said/thought the same thing for the past two seasons. Paul pointing out that the Preds are second in the league in scoring from defense just shows he's part of the bigger problem with how the league views defensemen nowadays. They're judged more for their capability to score rather than how good they actually are in the defensive zone. That's why Ekholm, our actual best defenseman gets overlooked, while Subban and Josi go to All-Star games and get Norris Trophy votes. Getting offense from your defense is great, but it should be a bonus, not the primary focus of your back-end.

PK's project should be focused on playing "D".

Just food for thought and wanted to throw a trade out to see what Nashville fans think.
TO Nashville M.Duchene ,Z.Smith ,C.Anderson and pooptsburgs 3rd 2019

TO Ottawa J.Saros ,D.Hamhuis ,E.Tolvanen ,2019 1st ,2020 1st pending duchene siging changed to 2020 3rd if not and 2020 2nd round pick .

Nashville gets a 123 punch in dutchy .johanson and Turry down the middle .Then Smith to add more grit and penalty killing who can be a shut down defensive forward amd then Andy to back up Rinne incase he poops to bed for the playoffs Andy has a proven track record in the playoffs being lights out every time.

I think that is a terrible trade. We have two good goalies so don't need Anderson.
Plus you are taking on over 12 M. in cap and Duchene is UFA.

Trade Turris back and Tolvanen for Stone.

Interesting proposal, but the deal falls apart as soon as Saros' name is mentioned. It's going to take the jaws of life to get him out of Nashville. Duchene is good, but even if the Preds could sign him, which is unlikely, I don't think he's worth giving up your goaltender for the next decade potentially. Not sure why Ottawa would want Hamhuis either, an older bottom pairing defensemen, but not a bad throw in if you really want him. Replace the goalies with maybe Fiala on our end, and someone else coming from Ottawa.

Honestly speaking though, the deal doesn't make much sense for the Preds from a financial perspective. That's way too much of your future to give up if you can't afford to Keep Duchene, so for this deal to work, someone like Turris would have to be involved to move some money Ottawa's way, and that's not gona happen.
