Yeah, I wasn’t the poster that said a “handshake deal”. Instead of shooting at them, I was simply saying that part of what they said is possible.
I simply said and still think that it is possible that Simmonds does play in the outdoor game.
Others...are really making a big deal about it. I can’t control others responses. - NC Flyers Fan
I was agreeing with you that I wouldn't be surprised at all if he wasn't moved til the deadline and simply added it wouldn't be because of a handshake deal |

Skated on second line in morning skate. I'd say he's a go. |

LOL good stuff. Reading the comments further proves to me that people from Pittsburgh have no sense of humor. |

Just for one shift... Start with JvR-G-Simmer if Sullivan goes with Crosby to start? - dragonoffrost

One shift. Tell G and Wayne... send a message. JvR is there to be the pigeon when the puck slips free.

i just wish they would let the game breathe a bit. the non-stop volume 11 blare of santa sacks, find the puck game and horrendous music between the whistles is brutal.

They need to finish their checks against Malkin to soften him up. If he is still hurting a bit from the upper body injury he will tend to disappear. |

Tonight feels like a much bigger game than any so far. In thinking about it, I think that is because losing would have many devastating effects and winning will have multiple positive effects. The most important thing is the 2 points. Best would be a regulation win. This is a statement game. |

Always interesting that the out of town press always refers to 180lb beanpole Simmonds as "beef", or "big", or "muscle".
Just goes to show you what kind of player he really is from a toughness and heart perspective. He has a lot of respect around the league it seems.
If they could resign him to 3 years at 7aav I would be ecstatic. Term is the barrier IMO. I could even live with 4 years if the aav came down a bit. But anything longer is throwing out bad money, especially at the end of the deal. - MBFlyerfan
7 mill a year for Simmonds, you are severely overpaying. |

Gretzky actually did it 4 times. He ans Wayne, to me, are 2 and 3 (take your pick) after Orr. - jmatchett383
Yes, Orr changed the game. |

There is no room for Simmonds. What happens when Cooters next contract comes up, along with anyone who might sign a bridge deal like TK/Sanheim/Patrick. Another thing to think about is if Hart plays well for the next two and a half years what does his contract look like? Having Simmonds for term at a high cap hit will not be smart at all. |

Cap hit isn't the issue if the term was under 3 years. Over three years everything becomes a puzzle. |

especially with the Giroux situation, I'm sure we will get some kind of discount but the guy isn't gonna sign for too cheap. What if we gave Simmer like a three year $28M deal or two years for $20M and then extended him for cheaper, has anyone done something like this or would the league be all over it? Obviously they'd look at it but tough to prove we did something wrong. |

This is confusing but if I get what your saying correctly, I don't think there is any violation there.
