Bennett scrapped, but it was with Goodrow, not Kane. Kane chirped that he thought Bennett hit whatshispickle just because Kane wasn't around to drop the mitts.

Prout playing is a smart move tonight, Bennett hit is likely to result in some attempts at retribution.

So with TSN saying that Marner is probably going to get 10M a year, I can only imagine that Chucky will be getting that payday. Any thoughts?

Should be a good game, smart keeping Prout in, love to see the guy fight. Takes the pressure off others. Although I'm sure Benny will be limber by the time he hits the ice.
Peters should bring McGratten in to give a few pointers to the boys, doesn't mean they have to use it but knowing you can would go a long way.

Nah. They're all pretty fair, honestly. Chucky might be a little low, even.

These guys are stars and they're going to get paid accordingly.

I think it depends on his playoffs. If he is a force I can see him getting at least 3.5.

Pat Steinberg made a pretty solid case that Chucky will be in the 7.0 range but expects him to be the highest paid Flame. Probably a 6 year deal in the 7.0 territory & if we want any more UFA years add a half mill per year.

This next CBA is going to be interesting & it's not going to be about the NHL & the players. It's going to be a rift within the players union. IF RFA payers insist on getting paid like UFA's the players portion of the revenue pie is going to get pretty damn lean for the rest of the players, especially the 28-29 & older players. The players may need to get their sh!t together & impose their own salary cap within the union. Guys like Backlund, Neal(I know bad example) but players that are 28-29-30 needing decent contracts wont come close to getting 5.0 mill per. The young 20% of good players are greedily eating up the $$$. Many players that are 3rd line & marginal 2nd line players are going to take big time salary haircuts so the kids can earn their 11-12-13 mill per year. You are also going to see decent RFA players like Nurse Kapanen maybe even Bennett get offer sheeted for 4.0-5.0 mill & teams cant match & the compensation is what a 2nd round pick. There are some dark clowds on the horizon for hockey.
