He might be in over his head. This is only his 7th year coaching pro hockey after coaching 10 years in high school. It's a rather bizarre track record. I do wonder if he would have been better suited to stay as an assistant, be it in Nashville or elsewhere for a few more years.

That being said, the 10 game win streak, to me, proves he has the ability to coach in this league. It just needs to be refined more.

If this team had the depth of Toronto or Tampa, I might subscribe to that, but the reality is this team still was full of holes coming into this season. I think he put them in a position to succeed, or at least played a significant part in it. However, his ability to adjust when things don't go well is something that needs to be developed.
