I don't know why the Flyers insist on keeping a core together that hasn't really done much for them in terms of success, coaching or goaltending to blame or not.
They are better off taking what they can from trading him and if he really wants to be there, and the feeling is mutual, just re-sign in the offseason. |

Keeping Wayne Simmonds is a bad idea if you're the Flyers. |
|
|
|
If I'm the Flyers, I let Simmonds walk and let Edmonton pay him the horrible contract that you know they are going to pay. |

I always felt Dzingel would be a good fit and probably easier to acquire than Ferland. |

Dzingle is definitely the more skilled player too.
Love Ferland but the bidding war around that dude is going to be WAY out to lunch. |

There's no precedent for Edmonton giving out bad contracts to UFA power forwards |

NOOOOO
Keeping Wayne Simmonds is a step backwards.
He is already clogging up the line rotation and roster for potential younger players. Now they want him to do that for multiple seasons?

I agree on the skill. I think the allure on Ferland is the physicality. I don’t think the Pens, or any team for that matter, should acquire a player just to combat a player they may face.
If the Pens want to muscle-up, they should move Sheahan for a 4th liner who can go after Wilson. |

Thing with Ferland is he's technically capable of playing in the top half of the lineup. In fact you basically have to play him there because he's next to useless anywhere else. |

Exactly. Simmonds gets a shot win this season, the Flyers get assets. If Simmonds wants to come back, those assets can be used to improve the team which gives him (and the team) a better to win with him as a Flyer. Everybody wins. |

Any educated guesses at what Calgary, Edmonton, or Philly could offer for Stone?
If any of those three are 'your' team, could you please enlighten us on what assets you think your respective GM's might be offering?
My wild guesses...
Edmonton - RNH??? Which may be a lateral move in a sense.
Calgary - NO idea. Package of underwhelming prospects and picks?
Philly - Again, NO idea. Package like Calgary? |

Ferland has 7 destinations and Dzingel has only 5?
That is craziness. This time of year there is so much wierd and wacky, fantastic stuff I don't know where to turn next...
but Ferland vs. Dzingel ... that is a whole 'nother level of lunacy.
