Weise situation is just bizarre. Wonder if there was a trade in place and it fell apart at the last minute?

Hart will really be tested against this Jets squad. I'm eager to see how he manages in this one.

Flyers captain Claude Giroux, who scored a goal and an assist for victorious Team Metro in the 2019 NHL Star Game on Saturday night, was not back from San Jose in time for Sunday's afternoon practice in Voorhees. As such, 13th forward Jori Lehterä stood in on Giroux's line at practice in order for the other lines to remain intact.

Frankly I'm amazed we didn't have a rash of posts about how stupid Gordon and Fletcher are for trading Giroux or scratching him in favor of Lehtera something something.....

Will Weise actually report to the Phantoms or is he still being told to stay home?

Now that he has been officially assigned, I doubt they are still telling him to stay home.

he will kill any chance of getting traded if he does not, career suicide that is already on life support.

Honestly, I didn't understand those who thought he was going to be traded in a matter of days when he was waived. Just ride out the contract. Send him to the AHL again next season or keep his as a depth forward.

agreed, I think they are going to save as much on the cap as they would have in a trade with retained salary.

plus, cap is not an issue next season

Unrelated (mostly), but if it THEORECTICALLY didn't involve top young players/prospects, and was just vets/picks (Voracek and 1st as main components), would you trade for Shea Weber since, after this season, there are no cap recapture penalties against anyone but Nashville? Dude may not be 2011 Shea Weber, but he's still a top RHD...for how long is the question.

Probably had something to do with multiple article headlines stating weise was told to stay home and wait for a trade.

He has negative value imo and I guess the flyers had that confirmed. I’m not sending a pick away to be rid of him either

I'm not parting with what will almost certainly be a top ten pick for Weber. He's been injured a lot the last couple of years and his play could quickly drop off a cliff the next couple of years.

Just for fun: Here is a list of the top 5 picks from 2014-2017. How would you rate them overall 1-20? I think #1 and #2 are pretty easy (Dal Colle and Strome, respectively), but just curious how some players like Ekblad and Dubois would stack up.

Aaron Ekblad
Sam Reinhart
Leon Draisaitl
Sam Bennett
Michael Dal Colle

Connor McDavid
Jack Eichel
Dylan Strome
Mitchell Marner
Noah Hanifin

Auston Matthews
Patrik Laine
Pierre-Luc Dubois
Jesse Puljujarvi
Olli Juolevi

Nico Hischier
Nolan Patrick
Miro Heiskanen
Cale Makar
Elias Pettersson

A player being told that and a trade being imminent, are two completely different things.

Maybe, but Voracek, with all his faults, is still a lot to give up for a guy whose best days are clearly behind him.

Fair enough. Just trying to make the cap hit work, and Voracek is the one who fits the bill best.

@ Jmatch, I wouldn't do it. He has 7 seasons left on that contract and like someone said earlier he has not had a healthy season in some time. As good as he is, he's just too old/injury prone at this point. The only way it can be justified would be if we won a cup in his first 3 years while he still has some game left but idk if we are that close.

Not for Voracek, but make it JvR and I'll take him to the airport and wait for Weber's plane to arrive.
