I must admit, it’s nice to read Garth change things up this year. Usually he is pushing to trade AHL caliber bums for top picks and prospects. Remember last year when he pushed a Lehner for Provorov deal?
Colorado is actually IN a playoff spot right now. Why would they trade good young roster players to Buffalo for a low end pick?
Jost was picked 10th overall in 2016. Why would they trade him for a pick and a prospect. It’s the same as trading Middelstadt for a maybe #1.

Being that Buffalo is a hockey town, and our close proximity to Toronto, you would think that they would have someone better dedicated to covering the team..

Garth, Mittelstadt is your cost controlled young 2nd line center. What you get for a 1st and a prospect...a player that will be a rental...exactly what you said you don't want.

Additionally, those 4 points? That's actually a decent amount for a team that has so many guys that have never even been to the playoffs. It's been a good season, but buffalo isn't quite there "yet". Hold the picks. Continue to stock the cubbard. Hopefully in two years the sabres are giving away 1sts for rentals.
