Make this happen:

Saad-Toews-DeBrincat
Panarin-Hughes-Kane

I figured there hasn't been enough crazy line making in a while, this board has been a little too sane today.

Something along the lines of:

Panarin-Hughes-Kane
Cat-Strome-XXX
Saad-Toews-XXX

...Would be an incredible starting point for the top 9 of our foreseeable future

What's the deal with Datsyuk's contract anyways? Did his NHL deal expire this past year? I heard the rumors pop up about him possibly wanting to come back and finish his career in Detroit, but I can't remember if AZ still owns his rights or not. Feel like that that rolled off the books

EDIT: I realized I could just look that up here real quick. Yeah he'd be a FA if he wanted to come back. Stan call your dad and ask him to pull a favor!!!

Don't know if Buffalo is a legitimate contender but they turned things around with signing Hutton (FA), acquiring Skinner and getting Dahlin as the first pick, while trading O'Reilly for basically depth players.
- LAHawk

Currently 4 points out of a PO spot and falling fast. Botteril still has some work to do cleaning up the mess left behind by Murray.

Except those top two lines will be spending a lot of time in their own zone.

I'm guessing that Stan would be getting pounded on this here board if he gave huge dollars to a couple UFA'S. Of course, said pounding wouldn't begin until a couple months into next season.

Summer of 2018 - " Stan finally grew a pair, he's going for it. Back to Cup contenders"

January of 2019 - "What a dope Stan is....any idiot knows you can't spend big money on guys near 30! Welcome back to cap hell".

IDK if this was posted already, but a Vodka company in Columbus guaranteed Panarin free Vodka for life if he signed an extenstion with CBJ

I read right here that the Hawks just need to sign a couple big name UFA's, and they'll be right back in the mix. Clear a little space, put Crow on LTIR; that'll solve it all.

Just wondering.....gimme a recent example or two of bottom of the league teams that signed a couple UFA's and become Cup contenders. There's gotta be a ton of them.....

Short cuts always work in the world of Millenials, snap your fingers trade players you see are flawed, but opposing GMs won't, and will give two to three times their value. You know all your prospects will develop into stars. With all the cap room other GMs ensure you get you'll sign UFAs to very good Low cap hit contracts with perfect term. The pieces fit so easily and so perfectly. Isn't the mystical millennial mind so wonderful?

I think the sticking point with Toronto is they have no cost certainty until they re-up Matthews and Marner. The Leaf fans are hoping they give hometown discounts, but I don't buy it.
- LAHawk

Valid point. I think they are having buyers remorse in regards to Nylander and that might be some of the other sticking points as well

You are going to be so disappointed when Keith isn't traded.
- Elbows15

I myself and a lot of other hawks fans Wil be disappointed. We will see it as another lost season and the bright spot will be Stan getting AXED because he didn't do enough to turn this team around

Remember when JJ wanted to trade Patrick “Bad for the Brand” Kane for Tyler Myers?

Good times pallies.

Joki might very well end up the leader on the back-end too. Kid is going to be a stud. Might be the best of the young D-men coming up. The underlying numbers show he is a keeper. I have no problem wiht the Hawks protecting him and not playing him every game IF he is wearing down a bit from world juniors and the fact he is only 19.
- bhawks2241

I would have to agree, Jokiharju is poised to be the future leader of the blueline maybe even pushing to earn the A on his jersey. He's a vocal player and demands a lot of himself and his teammates.

Great as a #5 Dman for now, Campbell would take a hit to make a play and understood the game of hockey, one of my favorite things about him was how he would use his speed along the blue line to keep the puck in and just throw it in deep along the boards, simple fundamental hockey, Gus has a ways to go in kiss.
- BetweenTheDots

One of the best examples of Campbell doing what you described is on Kane's GWG to earn the 2010 Cup. Doesn't get discussed much because of Kane's goal but great keep in by Campbell to sustain that drive.

They aren't under the thumb of the cap like they used to be. They have depth coming up from Jrs and college and not all of the d-men will be ready next year. And there are some F in juniors that will be filling that depth in Rockford you are talking about (Entwhistle, Kurashev, Hagel, Hakkarainen, Nordgren).
- CanOCorn

That is true. While the Hogs aren't a strong team today, the future does look brighter with some better to high-end prospects joining the roster over the next few years: Boqvist, Beaudin, Mitchell, Krys, Galvas, Gravel, Wise, Barratt, Kurashev, Entwistle, Hagel, Hakkarainen, Slavin, Soderlund, etc. Of course, some of them still need to sign ELCs but that still doesn't take away from their potential.

Of the current Hogs, the ones who have the greatest potential to be Hawk regulars in the future are Sikura (Dylan, of course, not Tyler), Carlsson, and Hillman. Other than that, a bunch of borderline prospects and career minor leaguers.

If bowman waits until TDL he might be able to get a 1st for AA i look at Buffalo they 3 1st round picks. So AA for a first, kruger 5th or 6th ward for 3rd kunitz 7th and saad and keith only trade if the hawks get exactly what they want if not then try again at the draft.
