no. please no. quick is still good but well past his prime, has an enormous contract, and simply put the avs are not ready to make the next step in becoming a perennial cup contender; not yet. we’re not just one goalie or one forward away, either. no sense in trading away assets or anything else for that matter, for an aging goalie who will certainly continue to see slight declines in his play over the next several seasons.
avs are exactly where most people expected them to be prior to the start of this season: on the playoff bubble, so to speak. i’d love to see them make the playoffs again but let’s be honest- we’ll end up playing winnipeg or nashville, which won’t turn out well lol.
let them play this year out, see how the draft goes (ottawa dead last again after yesterday), and take it from there imo. |

Well at least we can shed the Varly contract at the end of the year. He has looked absolutely terrible lately. I know scoring is up so the numbers won't be great, but he is letting in easy goals. The defense needs to improve as well. Cole takes 1 or 2 penalties a game. |

I dont mind staying the course this season, we have a lot of up and coming young talent. I would be perfectly fine with giving up a 2nd Rounder and a mid level prospect for secondary scoring help to get us into the playoffs.
When Quick is on, he is one of the best goalies in the league. 2 time cup winner. The injury history scares me though. I love Varly, I want to see him regain the form he had earlier this season but I dont think he is 100%. The wrap around goal he should have stopped vs Arvidsson, I think Bednar is riding him an awful lot because Grubauer has been terrible. I want to see Varly succeed again but with only 32 games or so left time is running out |
