Yotes might make the playoffs. Impressive considering all their injuries.

Honestly, I envy Coyotes fans their anonymity sometimes.

Meanwhile Antti Raanta, who's body is held together with Elmer's Glue and popsicle sticks is somehow an "elite superstar goaltender".

"Oh well! Coyotes are 5-3-2 in their last ten dressing a lineup missing six or seven regulars, and who knows how they're doing it, but they are."

Good coaching?

But, back to last night's game. The Leafs were back after a road trip and the Coyotes should have been easy pickings for them, but they weren't and now we here in Toronto are being tortured by takes about the Islanders, Lou Lamoriello and Matt Martin.

Cause, you know, they play the right way. The RIGHT WAY.

Also because they dig in and they are gud pro's.

No, cause their goalie is propping them up. This happens to one team per year, on average, and as soon as their goalie goes back to normal everything falls apart.

Trust me, you don't build a good hockey team by hiring Lou Lamoriello and then handing out a bunch of hilarious contracts to grinders.

Barzal, Belluelville, Pulock and a few other guys are pretty awesome, I'm not saying they don't have any talent, but let's just wait to see how this plays out.

If you want a preview, go check the records of recent teams that did this: the Senators from two years ago, the Flames from three years ago, the Avs from the year before that etc.

Cause you know, Analytics, How about a system, sorry but hate to say it but you don't lose over a goal a game just on the back of a hot tender (by the way there are 2, so that kinda kills that theory huh). Other teams getting less then 20 shots, or getting shots from outside the plate, 4 lines all contribute so many players with 10 plus and still more to come. Shut down line stops others best and contributes....... Hey Tanner, you are usually good for laughs, but you do wear the media badge of no respect for the NYI very well, so step in line with all the others, Vegas was a fluke, and so are the Isles, I know, for me I'll just keep on watching the best team first style in this league, and enjoy as they prove so many wrong.

Win meow mode is definitely in full swing again. I'll wear my Yotes t-shirt under my Leafs Jersey when they come to the desert in a month. If the Leafs keep playing like this for another month, that Jersey is hitting the ice with a box of blue waffles.

Hey I hope you have fun and that this lasts for a long time. The Islanders fans deserve it. But hopefully this doesn't culminate in Lou trading next year's first when you'll surely return to reality.

I know its easy to watch a team win and think their defense is good, but the Islanders allow the ninth most scoring chances in hockey and are a bottom five p;ossession team.

history and math tells us that teams that overperform these numbers crash and crash hard.

Now, it's not impossible to ride this all the way to the Stanley Cup. If Lehner's recent insane hall-of-fame worthy hot streak happened two months later it very well could have happened.

The only real danger here is believing the hype and trading away picks that you think are totally for sure not going to be a lottery pick.

I don't cheer against the Islanders. I just think this has happened enough that we can see it for what it is. I also find the post hoc shoulda kept Lou stuff insanely annoying, but that's probably Toronto specific.

Definitely random variance at play here but NYI has a positive High Danger Shot Attempt differential. They are playing good hockey under a good system for the talent they have.

Luck everywhere. Forwards scoring, goalies saving, neutral zone play. It’s all luck.

My son is gay and I'd happily hit that parade with him if he wanted to go. Are you trying to insult me? Cause honestly, I'd rather be gay if you're a representation of straight people.

Like, we're really doing gay jokes like they're insulting, still? Nothing like a 45 year old still thinking the views he had in highschool are relevant.
