Peter Tessier: Outshot, but were the Jets outplayed? Brossoit shines as Jets win but was the shot disparity as bad as some believe?

Great win last night ... Brossoit ! ... $650k this year ... another nod to Chevy and his scouting staff

The search for 'Grade A' scoring chances is weirdly reminiscent of the old Jets - back when we had half the Swedish National team playing for us ... they would do the same especially on the PP - - wouldn't shoot the d_mn puck unless the scoring % was above 90 !!

36 games left and momentum has been building ... I like what I see - even if we do get outshot all the time

Brossoit is making the most of his chances to play. He has been consistent from Day 1 in training camp except maybe the game where he forgot to tie his skates up.

It must really irk Edmonton's pile that they let him go as a RFA only to see him excel in Wpg's system. Just goes to show you Edmonton's defence last year and this year is horrible. Another black eye for the Oil.

I agree, I didn't think that the Jets were outplayed to the degree of the shot clock. Kudos on the goalie for keeping them in the game despite the officiating best effort in trying to be a deciding factor in the game, again.

Being out shot almost every game should be concerning as it only takes a tipped shot or a weak goal away from losing a game. With the speed, skill, depth and size the Jets have they should never be out shot, or out worked. Spending so much time in their own end will not work against good teams in the playoffs.

Yep- this is totally true. Eventually it all catches up and it needs to be dealt with before or at the trade deadline. It won't be easy.

We outshot and outchanced Vegas in every game in last’s year playoffs, yet we lost the series 4-1. How come it didn’t catch up to them?
Answer, it doesn’t always, not even in a 7 game series.

When it's best vs best it usually comes down to a hot goalie and in a 7 game series it's who guts it out the best.

I’m saying a hot goalie will decide the playoffs and to worry about it now is futile.

Super happy your trip to Winnipeg went as well as it did!!!! I’m sure you and your boys will carry those memories for a long time!!! Glad Winnipeg came through!!

Good points Ross. Case in point, your last post before this one and correlate that with Fleury’s play last year in the playoffs. The Knights would have never got there without their hot goalie Mr. Fleury.

Unfortunately for us, Vegas’ luck (and Fluery’s super powers) ran out one game too late

Thank you. I didn't know it at the time, but the good times at The Pint was just the tip of the iceberg. Best vacation ever, in large part due to the Winnipeg comraderie we experienced. We will definitely be back! Especially if we can convince the Jets that we are the good luck charm that will bring home the cup!😂.....

Nice win. Opportunistic. Scott, I looked but didn't see you anywhere in the crowd even though my box was pretty much right above Section 218. Would have been nice to connect. Oh. Well . Hope you enjoyed your stay in Winnipeg as much as I did. Certainly appears that you made the most of your stay. Good on you.

Cheers,

Jetsnation.

Thank you for reaching out, I'm disappointed we didn't connect. We were in 312 and I wasn't following the blog today. We were delighted to meet Pete last night and wish we could have seen more of you guys.
The "celebrity?" was sudden and unexpected. It was quite the treat to be so warmly welcomed in the concourses with greetings of "hey, you're the atlanta guys" followed by asmiling handshake. It will be tougher to leave winnipeg than I expected..... Thanks to all!🤗....

Dominated the game despite no Buff, and no Laine (i know he played, but did he?). Honestly think the only reason the jets were owned by Vegas last year was due to Pred exhaustion. This team is far better, and Laurent was fantastic again!

Well, yeah. It leads to more of everything. It all levels out in the end, which is why shot quality on a game by game basis isn’t really useful. For the same reason quality of competition isn’t useful

Lol, if you read the Vegas blog, they say Vegas dominated Wpg in the last game.

But your point about Pred exhaustion in the playoffs is bang on plus Fleury outplayed Helle plain and simple. Vegas will ebb and flow as per Fleury’s level of play.
