How's this for a gamble:
Trade AA to Columbus for Bobrovsky, hold on to Brobovsky for 15 games or so and hope that a contender is in desperate need for a rental goalie and trade Bob to the contender for a 1st rounder. AA at the deadline might get you a 3rd and a prospect, so this trade improves our draft standing in the Summer. |

I have a feeling that Cbj will want more for Big Bob, even if Torts likes Arty. They aren't in a stranglehold to ditch Big Bob ... just yet. |

You would have to deal a lot to get Bobrovsky. Much more than just AA.
I do like the creativity though! |

Was at the Winter Classic. Those sweaters are (frank)ing awesome. They should be the 3rds going forward. I know they are wearing them for 3 home games this season but they need to keep them. - Elbows15
I said the same thing. They need to keep those going forward at least as a 3rd

While he didn't get a lot of shots on net, did anyone else think that Hayden had one of his best games of the season last night? If he could bring that every game... he would play every game. Simple, went to the corners, won pucks, laid some Preds into the end boards. All good things. - Chunk
He was much more physical. Needs to be like that every game. I still want him to play regularly to get into a groove.
Hard to play every other game and play with confidence - you're just playing not to make a mistake at that point. |

why exactly are the Hawks giving up assets to get Bob? To flip him for probably less assets?

Second City Hockey is doing a mid-season Top 25 Under 25. Here's 21-25:
25: Kayumov
24: Hayden
23: Hagel
22: Soderlund
21: Hillman

Tomorrow SCH will review 16-20. The rest next week. - AEL_Fox
Isn't Kayumov the guy who got suspended for smacking a ref?

I'm sure he feels the same way, but to be frank, he hasn't "made" JC keep him in the lineup. I get irate when I see him back off and try to be "skilled".
He has a pretty good shot. If he would simply keep the effort up and keep going to the net, I think he would stay in the lineup (and see quite a bit more on the scoresheet). Sometimes watching him it looks like he is trying to be like Saad (good Saad).
I'm not under the illusion that Kunitz brings much to the team right now, but he has been more consistent than Hayden when in the lineup. |

Because we used to be really good. Now we are really bad. The inclination is to expect the GM to make moves to shake things up, and a lack of doing that makes it seem like he is inept, or not doing his job. |

Correct, he first fought another player but I felt that the punch to the ref was accidental.
Soderlund also got suspended for a "flying knee hit" to the opposing goalie. On this play I felt it was also unintentional as Soderlund was trying to cut through a tight area between a defender and the goalie to get to the other side of the crease and clipped the goalie along the way.
Who knows, though? Could have been on purpose like when Tkachuk tripped up Delia as he skated by the crease in the Calgary game. |

Hockey stat of the day.
Kucherov, Point and Johnson have been a line in Tampa for 23 games. During that time, they have accumulated 100 points.
80s hockey like.

Sometimes standing pat isn't always bad, just throwing that out there. We aren't in that situation, but trying to rush back into contention by trading players that we don't exactly know their talent level is really bad. The Big Bob trade proposal, I'm just participating in it because it's a discussion board, and I won't say stop coming up with them, but he's a no, especially since the cost is greater than Arty. We should flip older guys or expiring guys for picks and younger/serviceable players for the future. This season I'll classify as close, but no cigar. I'm not sure why we would get Big Bob, and flip him for better than what we paid when most guys here mercilessly bash Stan for being inept? |

Hahaha, it's the only answer to give besides my money.
I hear you on sweaters for players who are gone. I have the worst luck in that area. The only shirt/jersey (mainly shirts) I've ever asked for was Panarin and recently Adb. Here's my luck over the years: Versteeg, Hammer, Shaw, TT, Bollig (shirt and sweater, I liked him a lot), Sharp (birthday present and he was traded on my birthday), and the ones that stayed: Kane, Toews, and Keith. - I Am The Breadman
Met him one time in St. Louis, since he’s from the area. Think it was after he had scored his first NHL goal (in the playoffs). Asked him about how it felt and he seemed so surprised that someone actually remembered it lol. Really nice guy though, signed my hat and got a picture with him. |

That is awesome. I'm pretty jealous, I won't lie, haha. He wasn't talented, but a good 4th liner. I got a signed picture of him about to square-off against Bisonette with the Yotes. |

How about a proposed OT rules change. Institute a shot clock. Once you enter the offensive zone, you have 10 seconds to shoot the puck. - boilermaker100
Good concept, is it a shot attempt or SOG and how do you tell a shot attempt for sure? Maybe SOG in 45 seconds or call a stoppage for a faceoff (allowing a line change)?

By making sure he plays of one bidder against the other.
No GM is going to do the Hawks any favors when dealing with the situations the Stan was in with Leddy, Sharp, others.
But - no GM is going to back out of the bidding against another GM if he really wants the player - they won't say "I'm not going to increase my bid over another team's and lose a player that would help my team only to screw the Blackhawks".
That's where this whole "over a barrel" argument loses me - if there is a market, then GMs will act in their best interests and bid up a player to market value. Only if there is no market - if there is only one bidder - and a team HAS to deal someone - then they can take advantage. Add another bidder to the mix and self-interest should drive the price up. - StLBravesFan
Generally true but Karlsson really wanted out and was in the last year of his contract (acquiring team might not be able to sign him either). I think all the GMs that were in on him were trying to low-ball Dorion; it was really high stakes poker.
But like the old saying, Dorion probably can't tell who's the sucker when he's in a poker game. Just look at the Duchene trade. Now he will have to dump Duchene at the deadline if it looks like he won't sign.

Ek has keith link to Edmonton and Toronto so question to Justin and the panel what's your best trade for Edmonton and Toronto to obtain keith from Chicago? Same goes with AA where does he get traded to if he is traded at all and more likely these trades happen near or on the TDL day. What day is TDL on this year? |
