I hope Gordon separates Jake and Simmonds, those 2 on the same line is a defensive nightmare.

Some of my thoughts before the game:

- Can't stand the Couturier line. Not so much Couturier but I hate Voracek and Simmonds on his wings.

- Hate the mix right now. Too much similarity in the lineup for me.

- Charelli seems to be trigger happy right now...Simmonds to Edmonton for Puljujarvi?

- If Couturier and Giroux both back at center on seperate lines do you shift from finding a 3c to finding a better wing to play in the top 6, possibly with Couturier?

- van Riemsdyk needs to be better. This is starting to feel like a very bad signing. maybe he turns it around but like Simmonds, does he need PP1 time to be more effective?

- PP needs to score. It's a complete momentum killer most games. The PK has been better, now the PP needs attention.

- Still think you need to make moves with veterans. Get a new mix, really could use a sniper type goal scorer. Still wouldn't also mind someone with size and skill but brings a nastiness to the game. Like Maroon in his Anaheim time as an example.

Flyers don't need a player like Maroon in my opinion. They need more speed and quickness added to the lineup. More players that can create.

Simmonds isn't going to get you anywhere near either without a contract extension in place, and even then it's going to be a lot. I'd rather try to do a trade with them involing JVR+.

I don't think they're going to move Nurse tho.

EDM is close to cap not sure they can trade for JvR without losing too much cap. And HELL NO on Lucic.

They got too many D right now. It can't hurt to ask.

Time to think about getting the number 1 pick.They are in the mix for it.Trade anyone who will give this team a chance to finish out of the top 3.This core clearly lacks consistency, heart,talent.Whatever it is they dont have it.I dont care if they win or lose.I just want to see a team who has a pulse.Put together a team that everyone will hate to play against. Physical, fast,and has big character.

I want Giroux back at wing. His offensive output is maximized on the wing. I am fine with him finishing out the year at center instead of making an overpayment in trade for a center. It is what is for now.

The PP has to score. I completely agree. Not sure what else they need to do but they need to figure it out.

Also, Hart has been really good. Makes almost all easy to moderately tough save. I am fine with him staying as long as he is in a 50/50ish rotation.

I was asking what it would cost. The problem also is EDM is almost at the cap so sending them someone like Jake means we almost have to take Lucic back.

I think after trading for 2 defenseman it's pretty clear that they didnt think their d was good enough. I dont see them giving up one their best d men. I dont necessarily see the need or fit for us either considering cost.

However pulju I do think is an attainable asset. The hard part about a player like him is he had the draft status and has the gifts. But does he ever live up to it ? If both teams agree he will itll cost a fortune. If one team doesnt think he will and the other does itll still have to be an expensive trade. And yes Edmonton is absolutely trying to pair a bad contract in thst deal. I wouldnt take lucic but sekera russel or spooner might be a reasonable take back for the cap space.
