Don't fret too much, Ryan. I'm sure Pittsburgh won the all important Corsi battle last night. The Ducks will take the 2 highly undeserved points and meekly head off to NY.

Like Colby Armstrong was saying last night on the Canadian broadcast...theyre in 3rd now, a playoff spot, so they lose their urgency. He said he'd like to see more drive from them every game but it just doesnt happen. We will see more drive out of them when they're out of a playoff spot again, when they really need it. Frustrating as F as a fan to watch but it is what it is.

This is the same team that played pretty f'n good to great for almost 15 games, crawling out of last in the east to a playoff spot and now the last 3 there's been some lackluster periods.

When they bring a max effort they are extremely hard to beat. They looked crazy good in the 1st last night...then what happened in the 2nd? Lack of effort and low battle level.

They had one absolutely terrible period last night and lost because of it.

A lot of people here need to step back from the edge/ledge.

Despite the horrific 2nd period they did have the advantage overall in the fancy stats....not that it matters when its all said and done. W is all that matters and it matters not how its achieved.

Also, what a gem Gibson is.

Although JG bailed Ducks on more than a few last night ... that was as dominant 2nd as you will see all year. Ducks missed at least 3 open nets also.

Geno & Sid are still after all these years just completely unstoppable.. what a pair ...

Spronger ... thanks Rutherford for him.

That was a crazy 2nd period and probably the Pens worst period of the season. When you manage to get 2 past a goalie monster like Gibson you gotta keep battling hard and play tight, not let the effort up.

There are 2 positions in sports that can tell all of the numbers guys to go to hell, a pitcher in baseball and a goalie in hockey. If either one of those is on the underlying numbers don't matter.

This is pretty much it. Pens get two past him and then they just stopped playing. Too late to start playing after you're already down when there is great goalie in net.

The PP is a mess. They're all forcing passes. It's still a pass if it doesn't go through 5 players Geno.

What is with the 6 on 5 play? They just stand at the blue line and turn it over, Over and over.

Am I alone here thinking Sullivan may be the biggest problem?

They've had a few goals here and there but its never quite the same without Horny. Never nearly as efficient.

While he does make some bad roster choices, that breakdown was all on the players last night. They stopped playing. Doesn't matter what systems you're using if you don't try.

Its on the players mainly. They just dont exhibit much urgency when the standings situation isn't dire. It was like this last year except last year I really do think exhaustion was a factor on top of it.

And is that why they over complicate it? It seems they're unwilling to make the simple play.

Geno's goal was a nice simple play. Good screen, accurate hard wrister. I wonder if because of Horny's absence they don't feel shooting is as effective and over pass looking for the tap in.

What are the duck's PK numbers like. They were really aggressive last night

Penguins have reassigned Jean-Sebastien Dea to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Would imagine that means Patric Hornqvist is tracking toward a Wednesday return.

I have no clue why they had Geno and Phil on opposite sides on the PP all night.
