Rieder and a 4th? |

Rieder and a 4th? - DutchSenators
I won't argue it value-wise, but I think that's pretty much a lateral move for our forward corps (+ offense, - defense) and therefore I can't say I'd do it. Would either a prospect or a Dman (Benning?) get it done? With a pick? |

With the Djoos injury I’d think they’d look at a dman. Likely also an impending RFA.

Why the (frank) would they trade him for a nothing winger and a 4th round pick? Just keep him at that point. |

No. Burakovsky has shown numerous glimpses that he can be a top-6/9 forward in the NHL. He broke both hands and had surgery on his shoulder, and hasn't gotten back on track since. I just don't see the need to trade him for nothing just because. |

I would agree if he already signed through next season at 3M.
But he’ll be a FA and while we all would expect him to take less I don’t see a fit long term at his $.
So unless you’re planning on resigning him, which I see as doubtful, you should trade him while you can still get assets back. I’m not saying this should/would happen in next few days, but by trade deadline?? |

Why wouldn't he take a paycut or sign for the same? He's a RFA, he has no leverage.
Trade him for a better winger/defender, or one with comparable potential. Not Rieder. Not fringe NHL defenders. |

Two wingers from 5th and 6th Rd who don’t score and nowhere the talent Burakovsky does? Why would Caps do that? |

1) Forsling is a defenseman
2)Martin St Louis was undrafted and heading to the HOF soon while Kyle Beach went 3rd overall and never played in the NHL so draft position means jack squat
3) it was just a conversation starter...the guy is scratched and an RFA without a spot in the lineup. Forsling can step into your 3rd pair and be effective, he's better than Kempny IMO |
|

|
1) Never seen him play.... which says something.
2) Marty St. Louis is a huge exception.
3) The Caps have no emergent need to trade him and injuries can change that in a hurry. Surely they’ll hold out for more on a player they’ve invested this much time an $ for.
But you would know Kempny too so that’s big praise and if that’s the case then I’d say let’s talk.
..... and that Beach comment stings😉 |

Not sure if the Caps want to trade him for futures. They are in repeat mode. Forsling underlying numbers do look better than Kempny's though from last year. |
