Great game.

We have some D coverage to clean up, but I'm not bummed. The Jets are one of the best in the league and that was a hell of a hockey game.

And man... Tanev... that guy is awesome. I love his style.

For the Record I'm not being Debbie Downer here and am obviously super happy with the win!!

Can I just say the Double standard by our local Analytics community on twitter is extremely annoying!! they come across as these good people just there to share the stats that matter (to them) and the truth of what the eye test wont show (so they say). Well last night Sheif was 37% CF and was dominated all night possession wise by the Stamkos line. Sheif was caught many times slow to back check and also caught puck watching in our end. Now the line scored 2 huge goals!! but were very lucky not to allow many more on us. If the Twitter/Metrics police are going to jump all over our bottom 6 guys who they feel are stealing spots from Niku and Petan then they need to do their jobs and point out their facts for all players including Sheif.

Again, I am super happy with the win, but Sheif's play last night ( and yes, I KNOW HE HAD 3 POINTS) and furthermore the match up against the Stamkos line will not bear the same results over a long playoff series if he does not start playing in both ends of the rink.

Herein lies the problem with the Corsi stat. I think the problem with the analytics community is that they live and die by numbers and don't take certain aspects of the game into consideration.

For example, if player A is able to hold the puck in the offensive zone and stay on the perimeter and fire a single floating shot at the net while the other team may not do it, then the guy gets positive corsi. Doesn't take into account the guys skating ability, puck handling, strength, hockey IQ, nada.... Whereas player B who is on the ice doing excellent man-to-man coverage in his own end, has a shot fired at his net and does not get an opportunity to fire a shot back, gets a negative corsi.

Statistics are good for providing information, but they should not necessarily be the end all in determining how good a player is. Only statistics that should matter are goals and assists.

Fantastic game and I didn't mind laying out the big bucks to be there

Also - pls note in the "don't look now category" - Scheifs is T4th league for goals !

I understand and agree with this but....I still didn't like Sheif's 200' game last night and I'm not wrong about his play in our end.

I could watch Tanev skate all day. Bottom 6 are stellar. Reminds me of when boston won the cup, and how important the S.Thorton/G.Campbell/D.Paille line was to them. Just non stop hitting, offensive zone time, and keeps the top end talent from blocking shots. When Petan is healthy, and Lemieux is sent down, this will be a 4 line team. Heck, Ehlers/Little/Laine might be the weakest one....

The sample size is literally never that small, or simple.

And that last line is a horrific way to look at things. That’s precisely how you end up overpaying for players. Rate of production is always better than counting stats.

There was one back check- it lack thereof that basically led to a goal against. He had challenges for sure.

Great game, I felt the Bolts played a good road game had a little bit more O-zone time overall 5v5 but both teams are fast and caused turn overs which led to goals for both teams. That was fun hockey to watch, tense game as I am sure both fan bases never felt their team was out of it or going to win it.

Let's see 7 of those games come June...

Scoring quick goals from O zone faceoffs and goals scored on the rush don't corsi as well as trapping a line on a long shift and resulting in long cycle and multiple shots of any danger level. Finishing plays with a goal ends the corsi count, getting a shot with a recovered rebound allows corsi numbers to increase.

The Jets beating the best team in the league in an absolute barn burner just to turn around and balls it up against the worst team is the most Jets thing ever to be Jets’d
