@Todd Cordell regarding James Neal: I've given up any expectations on him. He's totally useless out there, worse than Brouwer. He is a liability, can't carry the puck, can't forecheck, can't escape checking, can't cycle. He's just too slow physically and mentally. Most of the time he's out there he's just gliding slowly around. When he does get the puck he's quickly neutralized or turns it over because he's too slow to escape any kind of back pressure. Also, if he gets it anywhere in the offensive zone, all he does is turn towards the net and try to fire it even when there are better passing options.

It's not even frustrating to watch anymore, it's just sad that he's truly the worst player on the ice at any given time. How could Treliving not have seen this before giving him this monster contract?

I really don't think the Flames can even afford to play him much anymore. He hurts the team most of the time he's out there.

Even though it's looking more and more likely that Bennett is going to end up a career 3rd or 4th liner, that would be an awful trade for the Flames.

Come back at the deadline and offer them Simmonds for a pick. That could happen.

The team Corsi stats don't really mean anything. If you're going by Corsi, the Flames were a better team last year and the Hurricanes are again one of the best teams in the league.

There's a false correlation between Corsi and success. Good teams just naturally tend to have good Corsi numbers, but focusing on improving Corsi doesn't lead to success.

I am finding it difficult to imagine a resurgence for Neal - he looks old out there. I'd like to see Rittich get the start after a very solid effort in Edmonton, but likely we will see the other old man between the pipes.

As long as Smith keeps playing like a number one, it'll probably be next year. This is the perfect situation right now as Rittich plays his best when he's fighting to earn his next start. He struggled last year when he became the de facto starter, and while he didn't exactly struggle when he got the chance to be the guy this year, he was just pretty good.

Were a better team with 2 goalies going. I like Rittich he played pretty flawless against the Oil but Smith is on 5 game winning streak. Now if he sh!ts the bed, well all be pissed.
