Just a disaster of a game. This is closer to what I was expecting.

season is definitely unraveling, they work hard but they just dont have enough talent

Hayes, as much as some people may love him, is a huge HUGE trade chip

they gotta do the right thing there

and it's still possible he comes back in July even if they do deal him...

I am in the camp that I would like to see him retained. He is not a problem but a long term solution. But I agree, the haul might be good.

I would accept signing him to an extension after Jan 1st

but, if he isn't signed by the deadline, he simply must be traded

can't miss out on a trade chip like this

Officiating was slanted against you guys - totally fair to admit that.

I don't think... the game as a whole is anything to be disappointed about if you're a Rangers fan.

You guys are clearly in rebuild mode (and, unlike most franchises, started the process right away rather than flounder for 3+ seasons and degrading your trade assets).. but I love your work ethic.

That may not count for much in the standings now, but in a few years when your young players start filling in roster spots... that culture of work ethic is going to be the difference between the Oilers (pre-Hitch) and the Flames (under Peters).

well, one of the reasons for that is that I think they'd spend the money elsewhere

I can appreciate that take on it. It is just very frustrating to watch Lundqvist go down like this. They squandered the career of someone that may very well be considered an all time great.

Yeah, that's a real shame - no doubt there.

Maybe there's a chance he gets dealt to a contender at the deadline as insurance- I'd love to see him get his cup (...with us? We're already 1/4 Rangers South).

Yeah I know "Vasy" - he's great...but... I'd still love to see Hank get his ring and do it along side Cally and McD.

See, I get where a lot of people are coming from with that sentiment. I am not one of them. I would love for Hank to leave(or stay ) and win the cup but if it is with Tampa I might have a coronary.

there's just no way

the Bolts simply cannot fit the next two years of Hank's contract

6/36 or the haul he could bring at the deadline.

just depends how close they really feel they are to actually competing. and if lasts night shows anything, while they played hard they are seriously lacking in high end skill

To me, the only shame in Hank not winning a Cup is that we were SOOOOO close a few years ago. I would feel less emotional about him winning with someone else (anyone else) than I would about him finishing out his career in NY with class and pride, the way he has to date.
I don't feel like Ray Bourque was a better player or had a better career for having won the Cup with Colorado. I actually would have had more respect for him if he stayed in Boston and tried his best with the teammates he had and helped them groom the next generation.
Besides, and I don't know if any of you know this, Hank has a full NMC and kinda likes it here.

I mostly agree, but his detractors will point at the one vacant spot on his mantle. Will he care? I don't know but he is certainly saying and doing all the right things while he is still here.

I don't think it's entirely impossible that mgmt would eat half the $$ as a going away gift to Henrik. NYR is most likely at least 2 years away from being a contender anyways...

the NYR would have to eat half and Vasilevskiy would have to be in the deal

but I dont think it's happenin like .0001% chance

I think they can win without Hank

Do you think Hank is done at the end of his contract? I have been wondering if he will keep playing.

i wonder if he'd go anywhere else to try and chase a cup. doesnt seem liek it based on his previous comments but two years goes by fast.

Great connection to Bourque. Not having a Cup is not going to exclude Hank from the Hall of Fame no matter what any haters say.
