Could happen.

Trade for Petro and keep Gardiner as a rental.

Great value signing. Guys like this are going to be super valuable by necessity over the next couple years.

Dubas and Chakya have a weekly Friday date where they read Tanner's blog over club soda and popcorn.

Petro probably costs the Leafs(with Z included)

Zaitzev, Kapanen, 1st, 2021 conditional 2nd(condition being if the leafs win the cup in the next two years it becomes a 1st) and a C prospect like Tamishov

I’d love for Kapanen to be swapped for Johnnson or Brown...but STL needs something they can be proud of coming back. Kap does it for them.

When you look at the Mcdonaugh deal the value works out to be about the same. I think Petro is the slightly better player but I think the value would be similar.

If STL keeps salary I'd be in for it. But at What cost? It'd mean Gardiner's gone for good after this year....Not that I was under the impression he'd be staying anyway.

There would be throw ins obviously for contract spaces.

Have you ever seen a TDL move before? Picks, prospects and players.

Tampa also got Miller, not just McDonagh.

Yeah they swapped Miller and Namestnikov. At the time of the trade they weren’t far off. Practically a wash.

yeah I think you are right.

My hesitation would be that I think they are maybe more than him away from a cup. I don't think the Leafs are quite ready to deal futures. He would also be difficult to afford. For this year, I would still stay the course

I disagree...I think the Leafs are a contender for the cup right now. They will be for a considerable amount of time too....

They also will have to part with a pretty good player like Kap or Johnnson this offseason...so why not part with one of those players in a deal at the deadline to acquire a guy that helps them in a position of need for two playoff runs...and maybe even sign him after.

To me I take that deal if that’s the package that gets it done. The only negative part of it that I see is that Gards will have to walk...and I really like him as a player.

Sadly, I think Gards is going to walk anyway.

I think the Leaf on paper are one of the two best teams in the league, and therefore contenders. I just think the young players still have a few years of experience needed

... and I don't want to be disappointed, again.

I honestly can’t figure out why he wanted to be President.

The only thing I can think of is Putin has kompormat on him. Because there’s no way he’s happy, no matter how delusional he might be.

I think some people have that mind set because it’s the Leafs. They aren’t the Leafs of old anymore....they are a good team and absolutely have a chance at going for a cup.

It would be a good to follow up TB on their Mcdonaugh trade.
