First of all, it's a Province, not a providence. Secondly, square miles don't buy seats - people do. The only two GMAs that have more than 1 team are LA (18.7 million people) with 2 and NY (20.3 million people) with 3 teams. The Toronto GMA has 5.9 million people so I'm not following your logic, if any.

Correct sq2 miles doesn't buy seats, well I do travel 2-2.5 hours to see the Flyers at home, but it does buy merchandise, television contracts and other things. If the only revenue for teams were based off of just seats all teams would be much more equal, but we know that is not the case.

The whole country of Canada is only 39-40 million people? That is really not that many. Yet the percentage of revenue made by the Toronto Maple Leafs is easily top 3 in the league year after year...and you are telling me that is based off of only 5.9 million people? So if that was the case that means there really aren't that many hockey fans in the rest of Canada. MLSE constantly battles to keep other teams out the Ontario area citing territory ownership, why?

Toront GTA has closer to 8 million and a much larger % are hockey crazy than those larger metropolitan areas in the USA.
