This team is an absolute mess right now.

Chevy needs to be looking into acquiring an NHL dman or two immediately. Morrow and Chiarot are not cutting it, and Myers is being exposed now as a result.

Maurice needs to either start making adjustments to his strategy, or play a rousing game of hide-and-go-f*ck-yourself. The lacklustre defensive play, nonsensical lineup decisions, inability to play a full 60, and the shortsighted decision to run the top 9 forwards and top 4 dmen into the ground every night is absolutely unacceptable for someone who’s been around the league, and the team, this long. Wheeler and Little specifically look ready to drop by the 3rd period every game. Scheifele specifically is at risk here, as a guy who plays that hard with that history of yearly injury should not be playing 24 minutes per night

Hell of an effort by Scheifele on the winning goal.

Fourth line was also on the ice for two goals for and Roslovic single handily gift wrapped the Morrisey goal. Surprise no mention of this.

I thought Appleton looked pretty good in his debut. I think Chiarot is doing reasonably well with his added ice time. For me its the soft goals from the goalies that are a bigger problem.

I am curious though, is Morrow injured? What about Poolman? Would have thought he was the next defender to draw in.

The boys are winning games and scoring goals!!! I agree that their D have not been playing up to their expectations. Morrissey and Buff have been great this season. Meyers has really digressed, and does not look like a top 4 D. That being said, Trouba has been absolutely sloppy in the Jets zone, and is looking to lead the team in minor penalties the way he is going. I think trading him is something that should be looked into before he demands 8M after a 35 point season.

On a positive note, Lowry, Copp, Tanev have been steadily matched against teams 1st lines, while remaining mostly in the offensive zone.Very impressive for a line that combines for about 5M.

They have the same defense as last year. The missing element this year is Armia. The guy led the team in takeaways last year. He plays the proverbial “200 foot” game. Surprised no one talks about him on this board!

They don’t have the same defence as last year.
-Myers has declined hard due to overexposure
-Enstrom’s defensive sphere of protection is gone
-Kulikov went from solid #6 to dead, and without replacement

The boys are surviving games, on top end talent alone. If either top 6 line goes cold, or either of Wheeler and Scheifele break down from being overplayed, this team is dead in the water.

Trading Trouba is a massive mistake. Non-starter, unless he specifically requests a trade.

Copp-Lowry-Tanev is gold, though. Fair play.

Fair enough- I forgot Roslovic did the hard work for Morrissey as I was en route to an Xmas party. That’s a good point Ross.

Armia had a role for sure. He was a depth utility guy that Maurice could trust, to a point. I found Armia to be a utter mess in his own end but outside of that he was quite effective.

I haven't commented in weeks about the Jets but will add one now.

The negativity towards the Jets which is led by Peter and also Rexy continues to astound me. Let's start with Peter. Jets have won 3 out of the last 4 games and yet Peter's last three articles were all hugely negative articles bashing just about every aspect of the Jets and their coaching. Last night we won on the road against a team that rarely loses at home. We face a similar home record tonight a MSG. Jets actually looked quite good last night except for a few minutes late in the game when an awkward goal and then the push came. All these glass-half-empty comments with Peter and others for a team that is near top of NHL needs to go. Make them when if we ever lose 4 in a row with our regular lineup. Then its fair game.

We played with what I consider quite a B lineup. We are missing Morrow, Kulikov, Buff, and quite frankly, Poolman (since he would normally slot in in situations like this). Instead, we have to survive with Niku ( who clearly isn't quite ready yet) and Schilling who also really shouldn't be there , and possibly Nogier. Hellebuyck also didn't play. Mistakes were made but to be expected considering who we had to slot in. Bottom line though is we won. Appleton looked pretty good. He was much better than Petan who I think we all realize is never going to live up to his potential. Vesalainen will be depth in March and Lemieux should look pretty good by then . We have enough depth at forward. Chevy will add some more come trade deadline time. Oh, and Dano...his chapter is written, no NHL team wanted him ...bye bye. ( Wrong-way Rexy eats crow just like he will on Petan.).

The negativity on the board needs to stop or you will keep losing posters. Charliedog is gone for that reason. Benny rarely posts anymore for the same reasons. I am in the same camp as both of them. I see McJags probably walked as well. That's four of your better posters and highly knowledgeable hockey fans on here that are on the edge of permanently gone. As a result, the number of average posts per article is more like 20 instead of 60-80. Just saying.....

GO Jets !!!

Edit: I'll add that if Chevy did make one mistake this year it was not signing Tanev for more term. I was adamant about this in the off -season and most of you bashed Tanev as a useless borderline forward. You need these Dougie Smail type guys on every NHL roster. They are invaluable, yet we signed him for one year instead of what should have been three. It's going to cost us since he's been nothing short of fantastic for us this year.

Now....back to my boycott !

The team that sits back on its record, and does not make the obvious necessary adjustments, is the team that crashes and burns in the long run.
Look at the Coach Roy era Avalanche.

Enstrom played a half season last year, you greatly exaggerate his impact based on this.

I too have stopped posting for the same reasons. I just posted yesterday because I saw that Jetsnation posted. I think it's ridiculous that a blogger gets his information from unverified Twitter accounts. No analysis on real issues like why is Scheifele number two in the league for minutes played by a forward; Kyle Connor's ridiculously high hockey IQ, etc....

According to Rexypoo, Trouba is the greatest defenseman ever, he puts Lidstrom, Niedermayer, Bourque, Potvin, Chelios, Pronger and the great Bobby Orr to shame. Somehow Enstom a guy playing in a tier two league and someone who missed over half the season last year is the answer to all of the Jets defensive woes. Even though he was the Jets "number one" defenseman for years when this team was in the basement in goals allowed.

I really like Petan, however I don't believe he's as good as Rexypoo and Peter believe him to be. I still believe that Peter uses the Rexypoo account to create controversy.

Posting on this board used to be fun! I also find it interesting that a number of accounts were somehow created at the same time to specifically post on this board.

You seem to be confusing “Trouba is the best dman in the Jets” with “Trouba is the best dman in the history of the known universe”

Then how did we put up a record year without him for 40 games? Can’t we just let Enstrom enjoy his equivalent to division 5 Highlander time now?

Yup....we suck, our coach is a moron, Petan rules, we miss Enstrom, Dano was mishandled, Tanev is horrible................somehow we are only 7 points out of 1st overall and we have 2 games in hand on Tampa, Toronto, Nashville and Buffalo.

I know we are not playing very well, but Stanley Cups are not awarded in December.
Personally, I'm glad my team is not San Jose (bet they are thrilled with their position after giving up so much for Kanecer and Karlsson), Vegas (reality has caught up to them), Pittsburgh, St.Louis, Chicago, etc....

Lighten up guys !

There are a lot of people who just seem to be looking for an echo chamber. They just can’t handle their opinions being challenged, so they resort to insults, or leave altogether.

If you can’t handle someone disagreeing with you, you shouldn’t be posting.

As a side note, Tanev is now being used properly, and I now love the guy. He’s a 5 on 5, 4th line wrecking ball that creates a ton of chances for his linemates, and even surprises players that know exactly what he’s gonna do just because it happens way too fast
