Didn't love the sleepwalking effort last game but that happens. Thought Elliott was solid. Jump back on the horse and for God sake..come out playing the first like you did the third last game. I really have no idea why this happens? Are the pacing themselves? Looking past some teams?

So now we need a 3c it would seem. Weal is useless. Simmonds and JVR might see their worst career point totals this year.

Let's go Flyers! A win going into Saturday's game against the Lightning would be good. Hoping that having JVR back in the lineup energizes the team. Did we ever find out what his exact injury was? He was out a long time.

I didn't think they were sleepwalking, Florida just plays a very structured 1-2-2 that clogged up the neutral zone, and the Flyers were having trouble trying to carry the uck through center. Once they were able to chip/dump the puck, they were able to generate some chances.

The other team has no effect on the Flyers they were sleepwalking.

Anyone else get a little disappointed for a second seeing Lehtera scratched over Weal?

A little but I guess the hope is someone skilled like Weal should be able to produce with two wingers like Simmonds and van Riemsdyk.

Not really. The Weal at 3C experiment isn’t over and Lehtera noticeably lost his hustle in Tuesday’s game.

It wasn't a sleepwalking effort overall. The Flyers played a solid first period. They got on their heels a little in the last 3 minutes of that period. The only point of the game that I think fits your premise is the start of the 2nd period. Florida jumped on them and it put them into a defend, dump it out, change behind it cycle. Effort wasn't the issue in that game.

I am not sure if you mean the Flyers lack any kind of defensive specialists or the team is carried by G and Coots?

As for the PK, they can still roll out Laughton, Lindblom, Weise and NAK to go with G and Coots...it's not like the PK is going to drop to 38th in the league.

Imagine if the Flyers had a lineup that looked like the Devils, fans would be jumping off bridges.

Not really. Lehtera is not a player that is going to be here long term. We have a need at center. I'd rather Laughton center the 3rd line over Weal, but I don't see a big issue here.

Well, it seemed to me that they didn't come out with enough effort/adapt to Florida's approach.

I would still love to see Laughton on the 3rd between the two. Not sure how Hak sees Weal as a better choice over him right now, or even Vorobyev.

Agree. Would prefer to see laughton there. But i do like the 4th line as they can play with some speed and all 3 guys can get in and be physical on the forecheck.

Like MJL said. We need a 3c. Either we acquire one or maybe Laughton goes there.

You confuse me sometimes

Filipula wasn't seen as long term either, but he was used last year...

Rather see Laughton take the 3C if Lehtera is scratched. Plus Lehtera really hasn't been that bad this year. Lehtera seems more important for the PK than compared to Weal for the PP IMO.

I think what happened is that the Flyers lost patience with the game that Florida was forcing them to play. They got sloppy, turned some pucks over and that led to zone time for Florida. I think the start of the 2nd period fits your premise. Florida came out hot and the Flyers were flat and put them on their heels for the period.

They played a decent first, then tried to get cute in the second and that's when Florida was able to push play. Once they came out in the third, they played much better. Florida is a much better team than their season record shows. But I had no problem with the Flyers effort, they just had difficulty with Florida's system.

No, Filppula was acquired in case Patrick wasn't ready, remember?

It nice for you to say that, but the game I watched, there were long shots on Luongo, little pushback and all of a sudden they came out in the third with a stronger effort producing dominant shot totals. I've seen this before enough to say they'll come out strong in the third but it won't be enough. So you're saying that the Flyers had a consistent strong effort the first two periods, but Florida decided to fall back and defend in the third hoping to hold on? What I saw was a lack of urgency in the first two periods from the Flyers, and I watch every game so I think I can reliably state that.

Fillpula was a 17 M 3rd line center for the Flyers that was frequently matched up against top lines. Lehtera is 6-8 minute 4th line center. It's a completely different situation. Lehtera isn't doing for the Flyers what Filppula did.

I don't mind if Lehtera gets some rest. I expect him back in the line up fairly quickly.
