I’d strongly consider that.

He’s a top pairing D man at age 23.

Most would, but I don't know if Carolina would do it.

If it's Ferland then we need another forward and not Borgman.

Slavin and Ferland for Nylander and Ennis!

Yeah, even if the Cap goes up by $5 million you've still only got $35 mill in space right now, with only 11 current NHLers under contract and Matthews is going to eat close to a third of that.
- BINGO!

Plus gardiner is not worth a penny more and he be replaced with lili or saudin.

Good trade by the Kings

Get rid of a potential bad long term contract for a winger they can deal at the deadline for picks.

No, both sides knew this. WN was not in a hurry b/c the signing bonus can minimize his loss this year. Leafs won't love it but the $300k or whatever they might've saved in year 2 and beyond is pretty insignificant.

The pressure is still December 1 ....holding out for a bridge deal until then likely costs WN almost nuttin'.

- The Law

Ya but leafs could say screw you. Every penny counts towards the cap. You want some up front money then we need to get a deal done by Friday.
Probably a long shot but who knows.

Think his proposal was Pesce, Ferland(Instead of Bean) and a 1st for Nylander and a forward, maybe like Brown or Leivo?

Another forward? Willy Nye, the holdout guy isn't enough?
- PatC80

Nah. Because we don't have enough NHL caliber forward depth to get rid of a guy in our top 6 just to add another one. It's not really a talent issue so much as a depth one.

Hardly "breaking story" worthy

It’s a fair deal in terms of talent.

Carolina can’t score and there is zero signs of it turning around.

some want to trade Nylander for Montour (plus or whatever).
I havent seen him play much, but looking at his numbers, he is very meh and not what I would want as a center piece D coming back.

here is tool to compare players, he doesnt show very well
https://public.tableau.com/profile/bill.comeau#!/vizhome/SkaterComparisonToolv2/Dashboard1

Montour would be one of those Hall for Larsson deals (if it were 1 for 1) that you regret yesterday

People don't want to believe it but there's nothing abnormal or unforseeable about this negotiation. WN's camp want to leverage as best they can and both sides are going to use every allowable piece of leverage provided by the CBA.

Guessing ...Dubas' plan of attack would be to stick to his best case scenario (a long term deal under 7 mill per year) until mid November if necessary. WN's plan of attack would be to hold out for either a long term deal at more than 7 or to get a bridge deal done.

Dubas refuses to table the bridge ...
WN refuses to accept the long term deal ...

Dubas is a smart guy so he now turns to his two remaining options ...
a) sniff around and see if somebody will overpay; or
b) table a bridge deal and get on with those negotiations.

If he doesn't get blown away by offers they should be able to agree to a bridge contract pretty quickly. WN will get a signing bonus and have lost almost nuttin' and the Leafs will add another elite fwd to the mix.

win win ...

On the left side, maybe.. You already have Svechnikov, Aho, Teravainen, Staal, Foegele and Justin Williams (admittedly, he is older than Mike Babcock, but still playing).

And then the rift between babs and Dubas begins.

You don't see much talent in Andrei Svechnikov, Sebastian Aho, Teuvo Teravainen, and Micheal Ferland?

The biggest thing is Svech. His ice time is starting to increase, and his point production with it. If he ever gets to play with somebody other than Martinook....

Victor Rask is due back at the start of December as well, and Martin Necas seems to be adjusting to the smaller ice, with 7 points in his last 6 games in the AHL.

Williams sucks.

Every team has a few top end talents. Compare to the rest of the league....Carolina is near the bottom in terms of offensive talent.

Trading away Skinner does not help.

Yeah, I don't think too many people are buying Hagelin at the deadline. He's 30 and has less than 100 career goals.

I guess they can get a 4th or something for him, probably.

I agree, Pearson is a little younger than Hagelin. Pittsburgh gets some depth and cost certainty. L.A gets a chance to flip an expiring contract for a prospect or a pick.
