The moves you suggested makes us a better team now which is the whole point really if we are really supposed to be a playoff team.....how would you feel about a Talbot for Crawford exchange? I’m aware that other factors need to be discussed like cap and other players but just the idea of if? - RatedR80
I'd pass on that. Unlike some, I'm not all that against Talbot. His EV strength sv% ranks 15th in the league at a comfortable .923 as of this morning (Koskinen at .919) and Edmonton is sitting 13th in 5-on-5 goals against this year. As with last year, our penalty-killing is sewering both our record and our goalie's confidence. They've gone back to coaching a more aggressive style when it's clear that the box-collapse method worked so much better last year. |

Certainly fair. Perhaps the value of Nurse/Pesce and Russell/Benning together is far greater than the difference Pearson and Russell/Pesce would make in our team's ability to convert on their chances. Does the way I frame it in my other post change your stance at all? Or are you still rather firm on it? - MaximumBone
When framed differently it sounds far less egregious. Depending on the + in the Nurse deal, well... perhaps. |

Which is fair enough....im not a Talbot hater as of yet anyways ....very important stretch of games coming up I would like to see December Talbot show up a month early....as it is we might need him to stand in his head

Yeah, really curious to see how this year's team reacts to in-division matchups. The last couple years have seen them make good on these matchups to the tune of 16-11-2 last year and 20-6-3 in the playoff year. If they can be within that range, it might be the difference between the making the playoffs and not.
Interesting note about our division this year, of the top-5 (or bottom-5 depending on how you view it) teams in total goals per game, 4 are from the Pacific division: Anaheim, Vegas, Arizona and LA. Edmonton sits 12th on that scale while San Jose and Calgary are 18th and 23rd respectively.
EDIT: Oh and Vancouver is 25th, but they don't matter |

Well it’s 7 games against rivals going into the first of December so I’m hoping for something like 5-2 or at worst 4-3....we shouldn’t be in terrible shape if it’s the latter....nothing wrong with being in the top 5 for total goals per game as long as you are on the right side of it ...we might end up in some high scoring games with those statistics so like I said I hope Talbot is ready for it |

What I meant is that those are 4 of the top-5 lowest scoring/lowest event teams. Boring hockey isn't ready to give up its stake in the Pacific division. |

Ah when you said top 5 I thought you meant in terms of highest scoring not lowest my bad |

No worries, I worded it vaguely, but I thought mentioning that it could be perceived as either top-5 or bottom-5 would clear it up. |

Nurse and Lucic for Pearson and Phaneuf + - RatedR80
LA needs scoring and youth though, and the above trade doesn’t really address that. Guaranteed they’d ask for Puljujarvi/Yamamoto or Nugent-Hopkins.
Now I’d be hesitant to move any of the above, but I think a deal could be done if the right pieces were involved. It’d be of a blockbuster nature though.
To Oil
Muzzin + Phaneuf + Pearson + LaDue = 13,825,000 out
To LA
Nurse + Benning + Lucic (2mill retained) + Nuge + Puljujarvi = 16,025,000 out
Not sure if my math is correct, or if LA could afford such a deal. But it’s fun to imagine something along these lines. |

I couldn’t possibly part with Nuge....he is one of few guys that I see being a very critical part of any current success and not because he puts up points but also because of the things he does away from the puck which makes it easier for McDavid to take risks at times knowing that Nuge will back him up

Well we’re gonna have to part with him next year regardless (unless Oil make the postseason). Love Nuge and all, but he’s already making 6 mill and we can’t afford to give 7 (nor is he worth that much). |

I’m aware that losing him can be a thing and it really just makes me hate Lucic and his 6 mil even more .....safe to say now I’m officially on the hate train after trying for 2 seasons |

McD stated that he wants to play with Lucic and Crosby ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0uXjCUu2Jw )... so when you want to get him away of Lucy but still keep his dream alive {partly}, trade him to us... we will give you Jack Johnson, a very experienced defender signed for 5Yrs on a real reasonable term! |

Never seen this video before.
Yeah... if McDavid were to be traded, the city of Edmonton would burn. Guess you’ll have to settle for Lucic. |

Yes Schweiny, that trade -especially including the only Nurse in the NHL- looked a little bit arkwild+pigward.

You take a shot after every 5 goals against, and 2 shots after every loss. So loser is guaranteed 4 shots. Alter the rules to a shot every 2 goals against if you wanna get drunk fast.
I went 1-3 to start the evening. |
