Was cheaper and more readily available to the Germans. The Americans were hoarding their gas. - ruttager17

He's not a shooter by nature; he's a playmaking winger that had- HAD- a solid mind for defense. Oilers management has miscast him as a power shooter (ala Hall). - MaximumBone
Never seen him be a good playmaker. Yes a lot of the reason he's bad is that of management, but he's still got to take onus and play better. |

You still don't learn the much faster, much more physical north american game playing in Europe. Blame the coaches and Oilers management all you want, there is still onus on the player to be better, learn and adapt as opposed to being too stubborn to change what he knows and has learned. - ruttager17
You do however have to put it on management if said player wasn’t ready for the big time....I know the popular thinking is top 5 guys should just be able to come in and play but sometimes that’s not the case....they should have seen that he wasn’t ready and went to plan b instead of trying to cram a round peg into a square hole |

Sure, I didn't discount his part but we're talking about a fresh 18, 19 and 20 year old against a bunch of 40-60 year olds; which group should I expect more mature, logical and wise choices from?
And yes, the CHL would've been fine but building on your game in the Euro leagues doesn't mean you can't transition it to NA. In fact, I think it would help him find a secure identity for his game before making the move to a new league. |

I do put the onus onto management. They should have scouted him better and had a better plan in place when the Blue Jackets passed on him, instead of prematurely ejaculating when CBJ picked Pierre luc van damme or whatever his name is. |

To be fair to the idiots I think the whole hockey world jizzed in their pants when JP was passed up at #3 ....CBJ was laughed at but as it stands today they certainly aren’t upset at their choice |

Yeah I know about that movie, that's where my guess came from.
Never actually seen Das Boot in it's entirety. |

Nope. And just think the Oil could have had Matt Tkachuk who was picked 6th. |

It's not easy watching a 3 hour long foreign language film.
That being said Downfall or as you call it "Der Untergang" was awesome and I was able to sit through the whole thing reading the subtitles. |

Boner knows his poop and does his homework on these guys. If he says he was a playmaking winger back in Finlandland, then he probably was. That being the case I am not sure why the Oil took him considering who all was available to them at #4. Esa Tikkanen must have really jerked off management to get them to pick JP. |

There is for sure an English version! Yes, "Der Untergang" is also a good historic movie, Bruno Ganz played the Fuehrer pretty impressive.

I wouldn't want to watch a "dubbed" copy, I am old enough now and medicated for my ADHD so I can handle reading the subtitles.
Back in highschool way back in the early 90's my buddy tried to get me to watch Das Boot because he loved it. Think I made it about 35mins into the VHS copy of the movie. |

Prior to the draft I was hoping they would trade down to get an extra pick/asset...possibly get Sergachev or even another forward |

I was bummed that he fell because I wanted Sergachev, but I didn't know enough about Puljujarvi at the time to be happy or mad- just surprised. |

Not a fan of Sergachev, at least right now. Not going to lie. Still would have been a better choice than JP. |
