I remember the old Isles dynasty, grew up watching them. Still remember fondly Bill Smith chopping Gretzky's legs out from under him for skating through his crease. 
The state of the franchise has been rough at times to watch but they seem poised to finally turn the corner and start to build back up into something. Uncle Lou in charge should be able to make the right moves to bring them back and they have the coaching staff in place now. |

I was an Isles fan from when they entered the league and followed them religiously as a kid. The problem was I lived in NJ and the Nassau County Mausoleum was a 2+ hour drive away and my Dad would not take me to the games. In 1982 the Devils came to NJ and I changed allegiances from a Cup team to a so-called "Mickey Mouse" team. It was tough early on as the losses piled up but my patience was rewarded with 3 cups.
But I do still have a soft spot for the Isles! |

I’ve been a fan since 72 and through all the good and bad this fan base by far is as passionate as they come. With new owners Scott Malkin and Jon Ledecky at the helm we have all ready seen a small glimpse of what the future will look like. Add Lou Lamoriello, Barry Trotz and Mitch Cohen plus a new arena the future looks very bright !! |

There was some speculation that Tavares requested not to be traded at the deadline. It was said that he told management he’d sign an extension. Then he didn’t.
I have no links or further information concerning the above. But if true, can you blame Islander fans for being pissed? I sure as (frank) can’t. |
