Slow the excitement a little Garth. They've played 9 games this far and are only up by 2 points on 3 teams that have played 2 less games. They're not really in a playoff spot.

No reason to slow the excitement. This was the worst team in the league last year. We've improved immensely and, unless something changes, we should challenge for a playoff spot this year.

I still think we'll miss out this year, but what's not to be excited about? We're playing good hockey and it's been a very long time since that could be said. Excitement is warranted.

This guy gets it. ^^^^^

You're right, excitement is definitely warranted. However, there are still problems with this team, most of which that were relevant in the past several years...

5 on 5 shot gen/sup is still towards the bottom of the league. Also, they're still not getting very much secondary scoring. The good news is, it's still very early, so maybe that changes.

I'm just still not sold on Housley being the answer as Head Coach for the long haul. Not to say that he isn't; I'm just not sure yet.

This is still an unfinished product. I think their next move should be to extend Skinner. He is exactly the type of player this team has been lacking. Him, along with Eichel, Dahlin, and Mittelstadt (possibly Ullmark) are a great core. Add 3 first round picks to the mix in 2019' to go along with Guhle, Aslund, Olofsson, Pilut, CJ Smith, Laaksonen, and Davidsson -- this team is set up to be in great shape for the next decade.

Finally, after all the suffering, things are looking good in Buffalo!

Thanks dude and agree. Botts is doing it right, he won't mortgage the future. We have depth finally, we have actual NHL caliber goaltending finally, we have one of the best prospect pools...there's plenty of reason to be excited. Glad you're enjoying things as much as I am.

We're a young team, so it's natural that we're nowhere near perfect. May even see some losing streaks and tough times, but I think we're showing that we are headed in the right direction.

I get the 9 games in thing, BUT, it's also nice NOT being eliminated from playoff contention 9 games in.

This is exactly how I feel as a Leaf fan. We've been pond scum for years. I know we still got our weaknesses and what not but this is the most excitement I've felt since the early 90's! It's hard to contain excitement sometimes. GMTM set you guys back like Brian Burke did to us. I think your new GM (I can't remember his name) is finally going to put you back to respectability.

Fair and proper take.

A lot longer ways for us to go, just nice to be semi-relevant again. We aren't just a write off anymore, or at least, that's what it's looking like thus far.
