I still remember an issue of the hockey news from like 2 Decades ago where Isles fans were rejoicing because they had been under crap ownership so long that now they have the "Truly deep pocketed Charles Wang" committed to turning the franchise around.

RIP and thanks for the laughs over the years.

Only 74 huh? I would have guessed 10 years higher. Thanks for the entertainment Charles. Rip

Instead of embalming fluid Wangs body was prepared with liquid Viagra, subsequently Wang rose right out of the coffin.

Long Islanders owe a debt of gratitude for keeping the Isles in the NY area. When he first took over he dumped $$ into the team and for the first time in what seemed forever made the playoffs. Players such as Adrian Aucoin, Michael Peca, Alexei Yashin, Chris Osgood among others made them exciting. The Coliseum rocked. He would be in the hallways greeting fans. His dream of building the Lighthouse project never came true nor his scaled down renovation of the Coliseum or a new building. He did what he thought best and moved them to the Barclays Center which was not a good hockey building (as evidenced by Bettman criticizing it before they even moved in) It was a bandaid for a bigger issue. Long Islanders are Long Islanders. Yes it is only 30-50 miles to Brooklyn but as evidenced by many in Suffolk county, they don't work in the city. They work and live on the Island and do everything in their car. That is why they live here. They don't want to get on a train and transfer and look at a schedule and get home 2 hours after the game ends. They want a 30 minute drive home. This combined with Wangs undying loyalty to a mantra of group based decision making led him to the firing/quitting of Neil Smith after 1 month on the job after Milbury was fired and the placement of the backup goalie in as GM for a truly ridiculous amount of time. Snow had 12 years as GM with barely any playoff appearances and only 1 advancement past the first round and yet he kept his job. It seemed Wang was more interested in keeping the Isles as a place to keep his friends employed then actually win. As part of the contract selling the majority share of the Isles to Malkin and Ledecky, Snow could not be fired for a certain amount of years without a significant buyout. Finally they couldn't take it anymore and placed him in some BS job collecting a check with his sidekick Doug Weight until the professionals could take over.

Wang should be credited with keeping the team in NY but when it came to decision making and running a tight ship, he was terrible and his dreams of grandeur cost the Isles years of playing on Long Island while he chased a mini-city of his own.

This sums up Charles Wang perfectly. I've always had a soft spot for the Isles.

Perhaps hooked on phonics might be of assistance to you. Wang, Viagra, rose out of the coffin, all the elements of hilarity are there, it's not my fault you can't put it all together.
