Would love to see Nolan Patrick get on the board in this home opener.

JvR or no JvR, I still believe whether or not this team moves forward depends on the continued development of players like Nolan Patrick, Oskar Lindblom, and Travis Sanheim.

Also, off of a conversation from yesterday, how much leeway does Jordan Weal get? And by that, I mean, do you think there is a scenario where, if he doesn't produce in X number of games, that Hextall decides to go in another direction and bring someone up from LHV to take his spot?

Yes, although I don't think it's a fixed number of games, "or else." If he's getting and setting up chances but the points are sparse, he'll stay in the lineup. If he's trying to beat the same guy three times, bobbing and weaving on the perimeter and then finally getting muscled off the puck or blocked without ever getting to the scoring areas -- the same frustration points that arise with him-- he probably won't get much of a leash.

I realize it’s early but SJ has gotten off to a bit of a slow start and their “big guns” really haven’t done much yet. Let’s hope that pattern continues today.

5 to 6 weeks would suggest to me that JVR had a bone break/crack in the area where he got hit.

While this sucks, it also means a full recovery with no real chance of re injury or chronic issues.

Thinking positive....

Agreed. Hopefully he comes back and after a few games to get back in game shape, he's his usual self.

I like this thinking.

Another positive is, he should have more energy, in theory, later in the year as he will not have played as many games as the rest of the league.

I was thinking it was more of a view on how his game is going also. I don't think it's a you need X points in Y games thing more than it's a you got to prove you deserve to keep the spot thing otherwise I bet we see Twarynski or NAK.

I really think they've decided to sit Weise.

To add to the positivity:

JVR knows expectations are high as he was a big FA add. He’ll come back ready, fired up and ready to put some goals on the board

JVR has missed one game in the last 2 years so of course he comes to the Flyers and is promptly out 5-6 weeks

My outlook prior to coffee. SJ will come out on fire. Our history versus back up goalies is not great. Tough game...

After coffee, TK and Patty will breakout tonight. PP will click. Weal gets Simmer a goal. Big win tonight.

Just play our game for 60 minutes. Good things happen to those that work hard.

I didn’t realize JvR played here. Someone told me after he got hurt he was playing on the third line, wearing number 25 and getting 20 seconds of Power Play time.

I still have no clue what this guy was talking about.

Back in 2009, Giroux missed 5 games with a concussion from a Princess Perry elbow.

Fraud Giroux is injury prone.
