I think if Jones can suck less and they can get their special teams worked out, they should be in good shape.

Jones though has me worried.

Jumbo looked extremely slow... I was hoping someone would drop a hat on the ice just so I could be sure he was moving.

Friday will be a like watching two ice bergs on a collision course... Go Kings Go!

Curious - did Ryan get benched in the 3rd? I noticed Dillion taking a shift or two with Burns.

I missed the game. How was Karlsson? I saw that he finished -2, but overall?

*noted your comments "very good, looked comfortable".

Jones has not looked good in any game that he has played this season. Burns is still terrible in his own zone and he loafs getting back to it. At least when Ducks had a step or two on Karlsson he sped back and took control of the play. Kane's penalty was a pretty cheap call, not as blatant as against Vegas. Jumbo's legs are better at the start of the season compared to last but both Joe's really didn't make any difference and were invisible. Donskoii, Meier, Hertl and Kane were the best Sharks on the ice last night. PP needs a ton of work and I wouldn't have Burns on the point either or with Karlsson. I'd consider switching Braun and Karlsson to make Braun more comfortable as the Shut down D Pair. There's no way the Sharks should have lost to that team last night...Inexcusable

Like the other poster said you’ll be fine if you correct the special teams and get better goaltending. Opening night results are meaningless, just ask the Hawks who won 10-1 opening night last year only to wind up being a garbage team.

I think when it’s said and done this Sharks team will make the WCF, and have a legit chance at winning the Cup.

2. Martin Jones last night = Antti Niemi in his final years in teal.

On point #3 - quite a few. I am a big Kane fan and supported him as a Sabre. And I will do so as a Shark as well. However, he does take too many bone-headed penalties. Unfortunately you will see this for yourselves.

Pp sucked. Jumbo looked slow as hell (probably cause the first game after a long time off). Hertl's goal was awesome. Sharks looked like they should have taken that game easily, at least through 2 periods. Gibson was the only reason the Ducks were still in it at all. Anyone else happy that Perry is gone till march or so?? Too bad Getzlaf is still there. That 3rd goal was terrible.

Burns is the 1 who should have been sitting on the Bench, He's out of position, Lets the puck go though his legs in front of the net for a goal on Anaheim's PP. Maybe he needs to shave that crap off his face & just maybe he will see that little black thing they call the PUCK.....

Its funny. Everybody was so sure that the sharks would roll. Instead you came out a laid a dud. I mean even NBC was tring to crown you Pacific division champions. This is just typical sharks hockey. Your only good when your the underdog. Apply any pressure and you team melts like velveeta cheese in a microwave. And since everybody is predicting you'll win I'm sure sometime around January you'll be ready to make nachos.

So, another self imposed hiatus, Steve? Not to sound like a jerk, because I don't know what else you've got going on in life, but I know that I'd like to read more on the Sharks after EVERY game. Your articles are good, just not often enough. Shark Nation deserves more...
