Idk about you guys, but I tend to not repeat rumors from random sources later. Even adding allegedly doesn't qualify it enough - that could have come from the sister of the mailman who delivers to cousin of an accountant who does taxes of one of the UC cleaning guys for all you know. - L_B_R
I get what you're saying and respect your opinion on this. I could just be lazy but I don't have time to fully vet sources, although, I try my best to not spread rumors that seem fishy or are clearly not credible. I'm not a journalist so don't have the training to properly vet sources yet I hope that I have enough common sense to not torpedo a player's reputation with nonsense.
Can't remember why, but at the time I felt the Hartman rumor about him running his mouth off at coaches was from a legit source. And when I say "running his mouth off" I don't mean to say he was yelling at the coaches. IIRC, the rumor was that he would inject opinions during practices about playing time and slotting which didn't sit well with some. |

And I guess I don't see why guys like Kane, who is a coach's player through and through, would have been okay with that and continued to work out with Hartman into this summer if that was the case.
Hinostroza is the one that made some comments post-trade about wanting more of a defined role / playing time but Hartman hasn't said anything that could be read as negative to the Hawks, I don't think.

Kane took Hartman under his wing and even desired him as a linemate. Between the loss of Hartman and Hinostroza, seeing Hartman get traded stung more. I imagine there'd be debate on these boards about this, but I felt Hartman had the higher ceiling and brought a lot more to the table. |

Agreed.... in Rockford. - DarthKane
He will be with the big club next year. |

And we got a nice draft pick for him and Beaudin will be a nice player1 better than hartman. |

Not an indictment of Hartman entirely, but he was slated to begin the year on NSH's fourth line. Unfortunately starting the year on IR due to offseason surgery. |

Ya... during training camp, then it's off to Rockford for him. |

Is Dominik Kahun projected to be Panerin like? What potentially are they expecting out of this player? - wonthecup10
I think that might be the hope -but it is probably along the same lines as hoping Teravainen was going to be comparable to Kane, which did not turn out to have been the case. |

Wish Hartman was still on the team but I think the trade will work out in Chicago's favor as I see a high ceiling for Beaudin as a top 4, maybe in the mold of Keith as Mitchell has been described as well (Keith lite at least, not necessarily Norris caliber).
Then there's Ejdsell and the potential he has. To be honest, I'm more excited about Beaudin. |

I liked Hartman, he had the typical sophomore slump, but was bounced around the lines and then became a regular scratch because of late dumb penalties. I thought he said he wanted to be traded, I thought JJ reported that or someone at The Rink. Bowman did a classy move I applaud him for. He sent him to a team that will make the playoffs regularly, got a slow sniper with great accuracy, and a draft pick that I'm excited for. One of your unexpected and amazing moves from Bowman. A 1st and a A-B prospect for a guy on the 4th line. Nash was fleeced beyond belief. |

Wasn’t he rumored to be a possible return for Leddy back in the day?
Don’t know how serious that ever was. |

Just another perspective on Martinsen. It's been talked about on these boards before that Q may favor him because he's an older player with experience who knows his role and limits and won't pout if he's press boxed for large stints.
Not saying Hayden will pout if he is a healthy scratch but there's still some he can learn perched above the ice with say Don Granato next to him. Who knows, Hayden could soon be the regular and Martinsen is the healthy scratch.
Also, contrast Martinsen and this supposed selfless approach to being a 12th/13th forward with Hartman who allegedly ran his mouth about playing time and where he and other teammates (Hinostroza?) were slotted. - AEL_Fox
Indeed! Also, I was at the Ottawa preseason game and Martinsen was The Only One parked in front on the net!!!!! Hayden and Martinsen are basically the same player except Martinsen hits harder, will probably put up only slightly less points, and is a better fighter than Hayden (not that it matters, just saying). We all know Q likes his vets. It is what it is. |

After playing only 59 NHL games it might be a tad early to say Hayden has peaked. I haven't been the biggest Hayden fan, I thought it would have started the season in Rockford, but I believe he can show more than he has so far.
Is there a difference today between Hayden and Martinsen? Yes, maybe not much but there is. But the big difference is the future state of both guys. Hayden has more potential so it benefits the organization to give him a shot to show what he can do. - DarthKane
Name one 24 year old that never scored much before pro hockey that became anything better than a 4th line grinder. Especially a player as slow as him. |
