Carol Schram: Elias Pettersson is Canucks' best player in lackluster 5-2 loss to Flames Showing up even when the rest of his team is flat, Elias Pettersson posted two points and continued to show his tremendous skills as the Vancouver Canucks dropped a 5-2 decision to the Calgary Flames on Saturday at the Saddledome.

Thanks Carol

Staying healthy is the key

Bo and Sven out of the lineup sure shows how thin the team is. Boeser struggling to find his game is like having three top guys out.

No one has visions of playoffs but this is just preseason and when the full lineup is set it will be more competitive.

I am looking forward to the addition of Roussel and next years draft

Stecher and Guance aren’t really making a case for themselves to make opening night roster.

I’d rather see Motte or Leipsic make it and waive Gagne.

Yeah Gagner has zero chance of being part of this team past his contract . May as well see what the others have to offer.

This Tour Champion is some awesome TV golf Carol, are you watching?

Pettersson, Boeser and Horvat will keep things entertaining for those of us who love to see the kids grow their game but it's GLARINGLY apparent this team is still years away from being competitive.

After seeing so many line ups, it gets harder and harder to remember who is getting cut 🤨

Either way, I’m on board with that one! (But isn’t Beagle the center on the 4th?)

It’s nice having more than one Center on the 4th line.

We know you think Boeser is a boring hockey player and Horvat is a 3C. But what about Pettersson?

Silky hands, you can't teach that! Thinks the game better than 99.99% of the rest of the field, again, you can't teach that! Unbelievable player!!

Yeah, I have it on—on mute, while I was writing the blog, but now I can pay closer attention.

I saw a bit of Tiger's round yesterday. Amazing stuff - especially for someone like me who didn't really watch him in his peak years.

"Good for golf," as they say—what a way to wrap the season!

Absolutely right about Bo/Baer staying healthy being key Carol. IMO Baer is also one of few guys that could play himself into a tradeable player come TDL. So I'm a huge Bae fan this year #2019draftpicks

If Benning can grow some Sutter balls at TDL he has EDler (who he can trade and re sign) , Tanev Sutter and MDZ as trade chips. That could really speed up the process if these young guys can start to take the lead.

True, but better to have to have the vet 58% guy taking them would free up motte to be the quicker guy in on the forecheck too

Trading all those guys would also help the tank.

Thx Carol.

Pouliot needs to shoot...ALOT more.

5-6 times last night he had clear lanes to the net and chose to try to beat defenders mostly resulting in lost pucks.

SHOOT!

Per Ben Kuzma, here are today's cuts:

Chatfield/Dahlen/Palmu/Brisebois

All waiver exempt. That gets us down to 29 healthy players - or maybe 30. Apparently Eriksson is practicing.

So, four or five forwards left to cut. The D is down to nine - last year's guys + Juolevi.
