I don't remember seeing him. I thought players needed some sort of contract to play in preseason. |

Nice to see local product Terry Broadhurst get an NHL preseason game in last night for the Hawks. - TJYTJY
Just so he could get undressed by Duschene, that was a filthy move. |

Compare them to a guy with a body size like Bickell - I think that is what LBR is talking about not just height and weight.
I mean technically Eric Daze was big too -- but not in the same sense.
---
I'd go a bit further too with Kane preferring at least 1 righty on his line - I would think it would be accurate to say that he prefers playing with an off wing shooting Left Winger (and if the Centre is a righty too - then that is a bonus) - but he looks for one timers from cross ice passes -which are a bit easier to shoot by someone playing their off wing. It's about where they receive the puck off of the pass. - steve-hist-sdc
That's fine. Just commenting on Saad and Panik. True, neither are Bickell or Buff size, but I don't think anyone would consider them small either, which is how Breadman categorized them. |

Says something that of all of the forwards the Hawks have lost, only three are listed as top liners - and one would certainly not be worthy on a contending team.
Not sure what it says, but it says something. |

I was thinking in terms of Toews, who has a bigger frame. Those guys, in relation to him, are smaller.
Edit: apparently both are taller. Totally my bad, I was wrong. |

Per Capfriendly, we are almost at 6.8 million dollars in cap space, was that because of the Rockford assignees? Also, could that number rise if we long term Murphy and Crawford, because that is some fun space to play with ... if it's not all blown on Schmaltz and Debrincat. |

There are obviously still moves to be made but let’s say the Hawks go into the season with 6.8mil in cap space. If they place Crawford on LTIR they would get no extra cap space. This is because Crawford makes 6mil. His salary would be eaten up by the space first. For LTIR to have an effect on cap relief the team needs to be at the cap or as close to it as possible.
Same example, the Hawks have 1.8mil in cap space when they place Crawford on LTIR. They would then get 4.2mil in relief. Crawford salary 6mil - the 1.8mil the team is below the cap.

Small potatoes perhaps but a smallish saving on cap relief com sif Hillman was recalled after Bowvist |

They also have us with only 12 forwards, 6 Dmen, and 2 goalies with Crow being one of them. That still leaves us with 4M+ in space after recalling 3 players from Rockford. So unless we sign some last minute cuts or FAs, we wouldn't be able to use most of the space if Crawford goes on LTIR. |

Stan should use some of that cap space on Jack Skille. The Sens just released Skille from his PTO and he’s be the perfect solution for the top 6 vacancy.
The Sens also put Nick Paul on waivers. The guy is 6’4” and 230lbs, Stan really needs to make a claim on this guy. |

Thank you for the answer, that clears a lot up.
Out of speculation, where do you guys and gals think Panarin and Bobrovsky end up? I really want to see Panarin come back (at a reasonable price) but I'm not sure that he will. I think he has his heart set on NYR, heaven knows why. My favorite players have a track record of not staying with the team. I also think Bobrovsky makes it all the way to July 1st, but decides to stay with CBJ. |

The Jets seem to be a team with abundance of forwards, is there an opportunity for Stan to deal with Winnipeg to improve the bottom 6?
Is Dano worth another look? Brandon Lemieux? Nicholas Petan? Andrew Copp?
I like the idea of a Johnson-Kruger-Kampf fourth line and Kahun-Anisimov-Sikura third line but if one of those guys moves up to the Toews line there will be a vacancy. |

CapFriendly finally moved guys off the roster that weren't going to be on the opening day roster - hence the increase in cap space. However, that $6.8M is for only 20 players (12F/6D/2G) and for sure the Hawks will add 2 more players, if not 3 more players which will put the cap space right back to somewhere around $4.0M - $4.5M.
They will probably add Kahun ($925K) and Jokiharju ($925k) so right there is $1.85M. If they go with a 23 man roster the cap space will be reduced by another $650K - $925K, depending on the player.

Fwd - 13
Saad Toews Debrincat
Scmaltz Johnson Kane
Amnisomov Kampf Kahun
Martinsen Kruger Hayden
Kunitz
Close - Sikura, Fortin, Edjell, Highmore.
Sikura is the one with top 6 potential. The rest bottom 6 guys for now.
I would use Sikura as tradebait for an experienced Center if one is available. (Ottawa?)
The reason I have moved Anisomov was to get more speed at center, someone who can take draws, and to get his big body on the boards.
Scmaltz needs to go to wing. He has yet to show he can take faceoffs.
Toews may have to move to wing in the next few years.
Defenceman - 8
Seabrook Kieth
Ruta Manning (Man this guy is not looking good so far)
Jokiharju Boqvist
Davidson Gustafsson
Injured - Forsling, Murphy. I have no idea how the D-Corps will look if these guys
come back sometime this year.
Close - Hillman, Tuulola, Dahlstrom, Gilbert, Raddysh, Carlsson.
Do not forget about Ian Mitchell. He will be in Chicago later this year.
Have not seen enough of these guys but for now they are future bottom pair defence or fringe players at best.

Crawford on the ice again this morning and looking like he's moving a lot quicker than before.
I would guess he's a ways away but positive signs. |

Looks like Kahun getting a shot higher up the lineup.
Schmaltz moved to wing which surprises me. I would move AA over before him.
It does look like they are creating room for Kampf at Centre. |

Copp can play center and wing maybe a 4th round pick. |

Maybe Schmaltz will shoot more from that wing position instead of throwing the puck away. More size at center is probably not a bad idea. AA is probably slightly better with faceoffs too.
I like the 3rd line. Should get some offence from it going against weaker competition on other teams. |

For Toews linemate to go along with DeBrincat, I think it will boil down to Kahun or Sikura.
I do like Kampf being a bottom 6 center along with Kruger and knew the only way it would happen is if Anisimov plays top 6.
Agree that Anisimov with Kane and Schmaltz would be better off if Schmaltz is the center. Neither are great at faceoffs but Schmaltz is the better skater and playmaker. Anisimov is the one who creates space for Kane and Schmaltz to put their offensive talents on display.
For the 3rd line, I'd prefer it be Kampf centering Saad and Sikura.
Kunitz should be 4th line with Kruger and Hayden, Martinsen, Highmore, or Johnson. My vote is for Hayden and Highmore to be the 12th and 13th forwards. |
